He still has a great ratio of quality tunes to dubious
merchandise, especially if you go to pinkfloyd.com and see
the sort of pap they are selling, i mean who wants a
division bell tea towel? but yes he is starting to tread a
fine line! perhaps he had some bad bit coin investments

Fuck yeah I want a branded toothbrush and toilet brush also
and yeah…
…as much as I love Pink Floyd they are carried away as
well. Quite sad. But I guess people will buy buy buy and buy
when you put it infront of them. And when it doesn’t sell
you put it on clearance for 50% off and still make bank.

I built my music career by sampling early Peter Gabriel solo
records. What are you going to do, sue me?

even though I'm not a fan of that album it would actually
make a pretty cool tea towel

I listened to Division Bell in the car a few months ago and
remembered why I only listen to it every few years, if that.
Not my fav by them.
Some love it, I’ll pass

him they have no interesting ideas

I like some of the songs on there year but not keen on the
tracks where Roger moans about stuff, it was a bit too on
the nose for me, i liked it when there music was a bit more
abstract, then again its been ages since i listened to it

I can see your point. I didn’t listen and hear it til
later in life. I could probably listen to it daily if asked.
Not a fan of him ranting politics (my rockstars don’t need
to do that) but the music is a ok.

lol yeah by itself it’s a downer but it fits in when you
play the album from first song to last song

yeah its a concept album isn't it, I suppose its too literal
song writing for my tastes, too on the nose. I like
allegorical stuff thats a bit mystic like the lyrics to
echoes:

"Overhead, the albatross
Hangs motionless upon the air
And deep beneath the rolling waves
In labyrinths of coral caves
The echo of a distant time
Comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine"

just a bit more poetic and imaginative I feel

I know what you mean though, there is a place for both
styles, having said that i do like the lyrics to young
lust:

"ooooooooooooooooo I need a DIRTY woman!"

something that creates a rich abstract tableau of mental
imagery, not the idea of Roger Waters in his Y-fronts on his
motel bed crying down the phone to his girlfriend

If I wanted to listen to that, I'd listen to the Goo Goo
Dolls or something or Velvet Revolver, cos although I've
never heard any of their songs its how I imagine their
lyrics are

If you mention Goo Goo Dolls one more time, we might not be
friends and I might never talk to you again lol.
They suck beyond all capacity.
I don’t expect a lot or any Velvet Revolver talk here on
the board, but its excepted.
