iron meats shot sfx sounds exactly like super probotectors
shooting sfx.
alruna dashing sfx sounds exactly like super r-types loaded
shot sfx. both games look well made and great hommages to
probotector and metroid especially gameplay wise they seem
to up par. there is a major flaw for me though. their worlds
dont transport the same seriousness in style. i have the
same problem with games like shovel knight for example. they
may be well done, but the comic approach in that particular
game just doesnt draw me in.
i still play the original games and while id love a well
done sequel and i do play the occasional modded rom file on
a crt, i dont really want to play hommage games that dont
have the same atmosphere and graphics.
i tried making a unique r-type inspired shmup that had a
more ghastly giger inspired look and spent years into the
making but eventually had to quit the project as i would not
reach the standard i was looking for in gameplay and bosses
artwork and i had to find a dayjob instead.

This is simply AMAZING! Do you have. A demo? I wanted to
study game dev at Full Sail but left Orlando. Where should I
go study game dev where I can make an indie game from my
bedroom Alienware? :D I'm super cereal! ;P

If you just want to make your own game without learning how
to program you could use game maker or scirra construct. I
used construct 2.its fairly easy. All you have to do is
create some sprites in photoshop, gimp or any other paint
software. Make some tunes and sfx and import all into some
basic game mechanics. Then you set all the collision,
variables for health, lives etc and you're good to go.

Im gonna share a playable as is state someday, because its
worth a look for others.
the whole thing just grew over my head and while i was happy
with a lot of it, i didnt reach the goal of a coherent, fun
most of all finished game.
