Please you can't be serious? I mean shit I enjoy my music but some people on the Board just take it a bit too seriously. With degrees in Aphexism (or whatever the hell it is) and electronic music. I mean studying about Aphex that is just taking things to silly extremes. It just reeks of amateurism and not having a clue about what to do in life. A career is music is just total fantasy it a culdesac. |

patrik, Do whatever degree you want to do. I would imagine (I could be wrong) that your parents have probably said you're wasting your time. However do it because you have to let people do what they want to do ultimately, that way and only that way do they find out the pitfuls involved. I personally think a degree in electronic music or whatever is a waste of energy, time and a complete fantasy. But like I say you have to let people do their own thing because they always will anyway. |

No shit though I know where Promo is coming from. Not exactly the same thought paths but I would never study music or anything mostly involving creative process. True aesthetics aren't really something you get taught to you, it's the kind of thing you have to work out yourself. I would also never be a musician as a trade, coz I just see it as a wank job - if I was doing music for a job I'd have to do "remix this and remix that and then get your ass in gear and make an album organize gigs" and all that shit which I'm not really into and it would take all the fun out of making music for me. So I pretty much see music strictly as a pasttime hobby, not something I'd consider a career. |

I've heard exactly what you said od_step already from a couple of mates of mine. But I've been playing the piano for 15 years now and am fascinated about all aspects of music. I just can't imagine myself studying anything else, apart from maybe English but nein danke, kein Bock. |
