just ordered one to replace my diy p.e.t. bottle to garden hose solution. im really eager to install it because it has a function to filter and discard leaves and other junk that regularly clogs the gutter.
oh yeah plus it helps saving water. drought everywhere and due to shortage of water, i hear in some areas, watering your garden now is prohibited.

ha, no, i just live in a regular residential area flat for rent with roughly a hundred neighbours in the same courtyard/block. but there are many gardens in here and we can hang out and grow in ours.
but yeah i kinda feel like settling down :)
and believe it or not many german communities and major cities are havin trouble managing their drinking water during this ongoing drought. its still raining a lot, but it has been constantly raining less than usual, for the past years, while temperatures were rising, so the earth is not saturated to the way it was he past years. and when it does the rain often comes so hard and sudden, the soil cannot absorb it properly. it literally all goes down the drain, leading to floods. last year half a village has been ripped away including houses and people sleeping in there. trees dry out and die or get eaten by bugs. it may sound a little overdramatic considering the events all around the world but we´re beginning to experience the effetcs of global warming even in our rich and green little state.

anyway, we grow a lot these days. my gf sowed different kinds of tomatoes, zucchini, sugar peas, pumpkins and cantaloupes on the balcony. along with strawberries and a few herbs and plants. a wisteria climbs around. and we have been able to water them with just 4 watering cans from tap water so far and about a hundred cans of collected rain.
we already harvested lots of herbs and tons of berries from the garden to eat in cereals or bake pies and hopefully the trees will bear fruit in the near future too :)
its amazing to just sit watch the bees and birds and all the other critters go along in there and do their thing and pray that we would never ever have to leave this place.
