I was thinking about this last night, not that I'm stridently anticapitalist or anything, but how everything is taken now and commodified and made a shit meaningless version of.
Its like that bit in Nathan Barley, "oblivious to the paradox of their uniform individuality"

Paradox, or contradiction, is at the heart of capitalism.
You might think that the purpose of housing is to house people. But no! The purpose of housing is to make a return on value for investors.
The same thing goes for cities and gentrification. The goal is not to create livable cities but to create monetary value.
This is the contradiction between the use form and the value form. For example if you own a bread factory you're not baking a thousand loaves to eat, you're baking them to sell. And you are very careful not to bake too many loaves for the effective demand (the demand that has money behind it) even if that still leaves people hungry.
Same goes for housing. And you're better off as a real estate investor building a block of expensive condos then getting city hall to clear out the neighbourhood of the riff raff who can't afford them.

yeah its like a massive pyramid scheme. They waited for decades until the city was almost a husk before they started redeveloping it and buying up more land. Now they are calling the area where I live "The South Bank" in PR related bollocks

Actually i have to be honest i haven't really noticed it really until i thought about it last night, its such a mundane thing you don't notice it, but thats whats so insidious about it, im sure it was dreamt up by a group of corporate psychologists or something

yeah, graf is fully co-opted for capital nowadays. if the rich can squeeze another few quid out of their upwardly mobile "clients" with some non-threateningly edgy WokeArtâ„¢ they'll jump at the chance

You might think you're a cunt but you're no Grimes reading Marx dressed like roadkill while espousing "nice" capitalism.
