Heaven’s Gate

The heavens gate mass suicide is the first news story that
I can remember where I really realised that the world is a
horror show, more depressing and upsetting than the horror
movies I love. I was obsessed with it and still think about
it often.

Do any of you have a similar incident, one which changed
your younger perspective on the world?

That’s a big one. I skipped college to watch a movie with
my mates and we stopped it to smoke some weed. Halfway
through my mate says “is that a movie?” And we look
through the living room window to see the tower burning on
the TV. We didn’t think it was real until we went back
inside. We walked in to town just to wander round because it
felt like such a massive deal and watched the towers fall
with a few dozen people on the TVs in currys. It was all so
surreal.

The Waco siege sticks in my mind, and the poll tax riots

Yeah 9/11 certainly changed me in some way.

On the topic of mass suicides, although I didn’t live the
event on the news, the Jonestown event really marked me.
Humans are so... (I’ll get back to you on that one!)

The Ceausescus being shot and seeing it on TV marked me.
Also learning of cancer around the age of 5.

James bulger
Thats just tragic
For those who dont know two ten year old boys kidnapped a 3
year old and tortured him to death with rocks on a train
tracks. One of the more grotesque crimes in british history.

Fucking sick as fuck

The soham murders also pretty gross. And fred and rosemary
west. Sick fucks.

I saw a Jonestown movie on TV when I was a kid and it fucked
me up good. The needlessness of it all. Members who had
doubts forced to take the poison. The children. Ugh.
