just downloaded the digital version from bleep, physical on
the way, pancake lizard has DAT glitches I don't mind as we
have the original version but its making me nervous about
the preservation of his other unreleased tracks from the DAT
era, kind of ironic the stuff on cassette might be the best
preserved

it's on youtube music and probably spotify etc. i'd never
heard these before, dunno why i'd neglected it. it's good
stuff, weird hearing a housey version of radiator

re: tape fidelity over time, i always thought cassettes
could get fucked up pretty easily, unspooling or getting
magnetized or having lilt spilled on them... guess it
depends on the quality of the tape and the playback system.
there were like 4 different "grades" of commercial tape but
i can't remember exactly what sets them apart from each
other niw

ah yeah that's where i learned about the different types,
think you've posted it before. i think my dad had a few
metal tapes but i mostly bought cheap and in bulk for taping
off the radio

yeah metal tapes were expensive, I think 90% of the tapes we
had were type 2, ubiquitous and cheap,

on it, I loved that kite

what if he turned up at your door like a gypsy with a tray
full of cassettes of unreleased tracks, would you tell him
to sling his hook?

pancake lizard - i reckon this was slowed down from the
original, the beat at least, one of my fav aphex tunes
slo bird whistle - always thought it was a squeaky
wheelbarrow wheel and aphex pottering about in the garden
lol

people taping it off radio...
