drill n bass origins?

i was just thinking, considering the progression from
1991-92 era hardcore, through jungle and hixxyish happy
helium stuff, where does the first drill n bass crop up? rdj
album was in 96 i think, but there's bound to be earlier...
what are ppl's faves? hunting for tracks on that mealtime
comp brought up the excellent brace yourself (remix)

yeah also hangle auto bulb preceded the rdj album by about a
years, as you say there is bound to be earlier ones

yeah i forgot hangable auto bulb, great little ep that.
squarepusher's earlier stuff is quite gabberish in places,
is it all just the warp mob kicking this stuff off do you
reckon?

according to wiki it was vibert, squarepusher, aphex,
everything has a precursors for sure, probably one
particular hardcore/jungle track that they copied

quite drill and bass like

interesting stuff, drum and bass for papa and urmur bile
trax are both excellent releases, didn't know about boo yaa
yaa and all that though. i've got a suburban base album
somewhere, from 93 i think. one of my fave
hardcore tunes, there's some tasty remixes too

whats interesting is heard the development of the style, you
get hints here and there of snare rushes then really fast
retriggering and the pitch shift while retriggering a break
