i was just thinking, considering the progression from 1991-92 era hardcore, through jungle and hixxyish happy helium stuff, where does the first drill n bass crop up? rdj album was in 96 i think, but there's bound to be earlier... what are ppl's faves? hunting for tracks on that mealtime comp brought up the excellent |

yeah also hangle auto bulb preceded the rdj album by about a years, as you say there is bound to be earlier ones |

yeah i forgot hangable auto bulb, great little ep that. squarepusher's earlier stuff is quite gabberish in places, is it all just the warp mob kicking this stuff off do you reckon? |

according to wiki it was vibert, squarepusher, aphex, everything has a precursors for sure, probably one particular hardcore/jungle track that they copied |

interesting stuff, drum and bass for papa and urmur bile trax are both excellent releases, didn't know about boo yaa yaa and all that though. i've got a suburban base album somewhere, from 93 i think. of my fave hardcore tunes, there's some tasty remixes too |

whats interesting is heard the development of the style, you get hints here and there of snare rushes then really fast retriggering and the pitch shift while retriggering a break |
