Didn't enjoy this before, but it's pretty good except for
the corny first track which sucks.

NME journalist Steven Wells gave it 0/10 and threatened to
kill anyone who listened to it, that was his last album on
the akai s950 boss dr660 setup i think. he went out and
bought some high tech stuff for the time like an akai s6000,
eventide dsp 4000 and eventide orville, and a yamaha qy700.
wonder if tom saw the review and that's what made him
upgrade his studio...

will have to give it a listen, see how it's aged
it was supposed to be made with a bass guitar hooked up to
the sampler and the strings are triggering the drum beats,
that's why it sounds quite loose and weird.

0/10 what was that guy on, even if you don't like techno or
what not seems unbelievably harsh

eagerly awaiting Selection Sixteen 2.
big old acid dump with everything in the banging 303 style
the fuckers done since that first release.

damogen furies is good but it always felt more like a promo
piece to accompany the live show, and that the live show was
more the 'thing'. live show had ambient interloods inbetween
each track that was probably just there to kill time while
setting up the next track, but it honestly paced shit out
really nicely and felt more complete. the album is good but
feels like a bunch of tracks thrown together without much
overarching point .. or something ?
not sure. i like damogen but it's not a solid album imo.
ufabulum still takes that cake as being a solid album.
probably would be less critical of squarepushers recent
offerings if the long gaps/hiatus between albums didn't put
so much onus on everything being "the latest offering".

shobaleader one live album i thought was fine, for what it
is ((( a live album of squarepusher + band playing
squarepusher classics live )). but in no way do i consider
it to be 'the latest squarepusher album'.

for some reason most of the sounds on damogen furies sound
like they could be on a song from radio one, but with
melodies that are typically squarepusher, consequently I
don't think it satisfies any intended audience, then again
im sure there are people who really love it
