why does a lot of people dislike the man and his music so
much? i personaly greatly enjoy (still) listening to
lipswitch. i never get bored of it. i couldnt say the same
about aleamapper, but i still respect his work a lot. he's
got a lot of talent and is very promising artist.

I like Lipswitch and think I like Aleamapper, but I've only
listened like once or twice, and not very carefully. I got
no beef.

autechre immediatly comes to mind. but i dont consider him
an ae-clone at all.

good complex devine track:

"route, increment"

I would describe Richard Devine's music as a symphony of
machinery soul.

I definately like lipswitch. It's very complex, ever
changing though the whole mass always remains one unified
pile of symmetrical debris. I havn't heard it enough (like
2wice so far). Aleamapper didn't appeal to me so far though.
I like autechre and crunch more but this guy makes great
stuff.

i have lipswitch, it's ok but the music sounds 'square' if
you know what i mean. it's not very organic, too symmetrical

looks like i was wrong. there are a couple of devine fans
on this mb. i also, at first, thought lipswitch sounded a
little "square". not anymore though.

I am a huge fan of Richard Devine. I really like the
schematic untitled ep, and lipswitch, and I like most of the
stuff on aleamapper (altho the lack of beats was a great
dissapointmet, the trax with beats were a bit sparser in
content than earlier werks, they were also a definate
evolution from his earlier style of maximalism).

His stuff is so tight. On a regular week I usually listen to
lipswitch at least 3-4 times (not counting days where I
binge), and this is after having it for nearly a year.

Any1 check his track on Native Instruments Komfot Lab Vol.
1?

You are going to leave the concert having had your ears
blodgeoned to death by a few hundred thousand fast paced
glitch sounds.

Richard devine live is appearantly an amazing thing, and
even the people who hate his music enjoy his sets.

I don't think I've heard any of his music yet, but that will
have to change... latly I've been buying cds that I've heard
are good, and making sure I don't download any tracks first,
the suprise is the funnest part.

Which one should I get, I think I'll try this 'lipswitch'
you speak of. Is it very rare?

offline CORTEX from Canada on 2002-04-23 05:36 [#00190030]

it's very un-rare, it's released on warp and is as common as
any aphex-ae-squarepusher album. and yes, buy lipswitch!
hope youll be pleasantly surprised ;)

lipswitch is currently my favorite album. the guy has
invented "robotic funk", and it sounds mechanically
beautiful

untitled ep kicketh ass
lipswitch kicketh ass 2
and i actually got very much into aleamapper, very nice
album, altho - it is definetly deceiving with the lack of
beats - took me a while to get into it proper.

corngrower,

check out the 12" on schematic. its my favorite thing he
has put out. record-collector keeps it stock. lipswitch is
good to though. I'm with jupitah with his newest
release-haven't really got into yet.

I like the track on the Magic Bus CD. It's got a really
funky beat. And live he's the boss.

is the magic bus cd only available on that tour? or will it
be officially released soon? or do you know?
