Big, did you enjoy the finale? I heard there’s a massive
online petition asking to redo the whole season! So wonder d
how you felt about it. No spoilers please, I’m behind
(season 5)

If you’re not big and have something to say, you may also
post.

Damn.

Danza? You used to be a fan, you even got me into it way
back when I wasn’t motivated by the whole idea.

it started going down from season 5

i'm just watching for the stuff that still is good. there's
some good directing. the actors. also i liked watching
several youtube channels

it's just always been a bad idea to start the series before
the books were finished (is easy to say in hindsight).

many arcs i was very invested in, fizzled out, so that gives
a genuine sense of loss. i just comfort myself in that some
great stuff *has* been created, also in the show

i recommend tuca and bertie, on netflix, by lisa hanawalt,
animator of bojack horseman.

I see, thanks!

So are the books finished now, and is the ending poor?

Points: 23624 Status: Regular | Show recordbag

no, the books are still where they were before the show
started: (at least) 2 away from finishing. i'm writing that
we at least got some great stuff, because it's possible the
books won't be finished

Apparently it all takes place under two years. The saga is
shorter than brexit.

a thing we can learn from all of this, is there's more you
can take from a story than just how it finishes

i understood from a GoT Academy youtube video, that writer
GRRM thought of doing a big time jump of five years, but
didn't. and so we got the fifth book and a story that seems
hard to wrap up

it was probably this podcast i heard it in (GoT
Academy and Preston Jacobs are probably the best GoT Youtube
content)

Look, Game of Thrones has been problematic from the start,
and although the showrunners have made some superficial
efforts to rectify the issues in more recent seasons, it
should come as no surprise to anyone that in the final
season it reverts to its truly toxic nature. One can't deny
that the show is rooted in white supremacy, patriarchy,
heteronormativity and Islamophobia, and such structures need
to be completely torn down, not just papered over. Frankly,
Game of Thrones should've been cancelled after the first
episode, but I guess HBO just couldn't give up those sweet
incelbucks

looks like we're not getting a buddy adventure comedy
spinoff where arya and the hound wander westeros trading
barbed one liners and doing kung fu on minor villains

last week's episode was aight

i secretly, not so secretly loathe all the complainers,
because they hate it when i thought it was okay. and they
don't seem to notice the worst travesties

i started watching a couple of episodes because my friend
said there was some bumming going on but soon i realized it
is very vanilla and boring for a sex machine like me

yes it's mostly some PiV nonsense.

I like Zeynep Tufekci's take on season 8: spoilers like crazy, of course

for example if i have to tell you guys what i was expecting
when i started watching my first episode of game of thrones
then i would have to say it was something different than
what i saw which in return made me very disappointed and
even question my friend's taste which caused some trouble in
our relationship later on

Opposite for me at the start. I’m not a fan of sword
fantasy stuff. But the Danza told me t give it a go, and I
was pleasantly surprised.

“i'm reading the books they're fun and actually kind of
good? ”

Are you asking yourself?

(I get it. It’s a “do you know what I mean?”
Intonation?)

Game of Lols. I liked the way that all the berks that
usually bang on about it at work were noticeably muted on
Monday. Hopefully I'll hear no more about your pretentious
