What’s happening to the uyghur people is distressing. Brainwashing camps, people disappearing for years on end, torture. I first learned about them from reading Peter Hitchens travel columns years ago. When I was in China I got as far West as Gansu province which was a 24 hour train ride from Shanghai. I went to a Tibetan village in Gansu and they hated the Chinese with a passion. They’d sent in tanks to quell rebellions in the past. Kind of wished I’d made it to Kashgar now. I wouldn’t recommend Britain turning into some kind of police state, even though it already is headed that way. But Islam is special and different because it is a proselytising religion with violence encoded into it. The best thing we could do is accept the truth. Then we could cut the benefits for Muslims, close down the mosques, and ship as many of them as possible out, into France if possible. |

Yeah I mean I guess the difficultly comes in identifying the ultra fanatical ones, I guess Islam hasn't gone through a reformation process like some other world religions so its still in a medieval mindset for the most part, surely the majority of them are decent people who just happen to be Muslim? or am I being naïve and they are all baying for the fall of western civilization, that's the two view points I find myself in, |

I like the muslim guys I met in China. We were buddies studying Chinese together by day, going to squalid Chinese nightclubs by night. They were fabric traders from Turkey, Iran, and Afghanistan. The ones from Iran were the nicest, never asked me to convert. the Turkish and Afghans on the other hand asked me a bunch of times to find a better religion. |

In a related vein I just watched Deeyah Khan's short documentary . It offers some insight into how these guys get radicalized. She interviews former jihadis and radical sympathizers and they discuss their "whoah, is this what I've become, is this what I'm part of" moments. |
