of course it's immoral to lie, we couldn't talk to eachother if we posited it as okay
now, since we don't live in a just world, your moral imperatives might clash and you might need to lie so you don't die (sacrifice is bad: don't treat your own life as a means to an end but as an end in itself). that doesn't mean lying is moral.
now, imagine you lie to save your friend's life. you think your friend is hiding in the attic, but you tell the killer cops he went that way down the street. unbeknownst to you, your friend did got out of the attic and fled down the street. you are responsible for your lie, good job killing your friend.
a more moral option might have been to not talk to cops. a more moral option might have been to refuse to answer.

of course kant is wrong when he remarks that "it is better to sacrifice one’s life than one’s morality", and incoherent, since he thinks suicide is immoral. there is never honor in death, bro

i try to think of death like epicurus... he sez:
"death does not concern us, because as long as we exist, death is not here. and when it does come, we no longer exist."
he was around the same time as whoever wrote ecclesiastes, they both seem like pretty good dudes imo. lives well lived and simple pleasures etc

yeah I keep thinking of a time I gained consciousness, its just a fuzzy grey area, nonsensical to describe, I imagine death is very much similar, we have all been dead by virtue of none existence so whats the worry

we die every instant, the continuity and coherence of our consciousness is a mere illusion, but it's an illusion we can't shake off so we have to fear death like idiots even tho it's not really a thing

I didn't want to revisit this thread because I'd made such an epicmegatrax of myself but I felt I owed welt an answer.
Then let me modify the challenge/question a bit. Are there conditions
A few thoughts. Number one, this is the second or third time you've moved the goal posts. Number two, you've now explicitly stated that it's conditionally rather than absolutely bad, by stipulating the conditions.
Anyhoo. So, what's wrong with harming an innocent victim purely for personal pleasure? Possibly nothing if you can't see past the tip of your own nose - which is a kind of idiocy in the root etymological sense of idiocy - private, personal. And this, to me, is not where moral questions are even possible. Morality is social, communal. And when the sphere of concern expands to include others, the rationale of certain moral precepts like "do not rape" becomes sort of self-explanatory. So the crucial question becomes not "why should I not rape", but "why should I not be an idiot". I think this is the central question of our very weird historical period.

Camu Tao - Death
He knew he was dying when he wrote this. The first time I heard it was the da Robin Williams died. It’s got a special energy for a song about death.

And old man smiles at you, sadly from a window. Yet it's not a window, it's actually a mirror. And the old man's standing behind you. But you're not in the mirror. Because you're dead. That's why.
