Monoids Politiscale

Well, in germany the social Democrats are in decline. The
greens are on the rise. I'd rather vote for the winning
team, thus i will probably vote for the Greens next time.
But i must admit, i am a bit politicly confused.

would be an improvement over the oligarchy much of the world

Hmm, communism didn't work out so well in the past. Maybe in
the future, when we have robot slaves who do all the work,
we should reconsider it.

> Hmm, communism didn't work out so well in the past.

Communism has never existed anywhere on earth. The Soviet
Union was centralized bureaucratic feudalism. You can't jump
straight to communism from feudalism. Maybe you ought to
actually read Marx. He said that capitalism was a mixed bag
but had achieved greater things than the pyramids.
Capitalism for him was like adolescence, something
civilization has to pass through on its way to adulthood.

> Maybe in the future, when we have robot slaves who do all
the work, we should reconsider it.

That would be now-ish. With automation, the productivity and
wealth can be shared by billions or it can be walled in by a
handful of oligarchs. But this is something we have to
consider NOW.

Im not sure communism would work it seems too idealistic to
my mind, people are too varied in their wants and needs, I
think it would appear like a repression regime for those
types of people, I agree with marx that people certainly
should have more control over the means of production,
wealth needs to be distributed much better, maybe its all
just semantics and we want the same things

No true scotsman argument.

I quote Marx:

"He is a hunter, a fisherman, a herdsman, or a critical
critic, and must remain so if he does not want to lose his
means of livelihood; while in communist society, where
nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity but each can
become accomplished in any branch he wishes, society
regulates the general production and thus makes it possible
for me to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt
in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the
evening, criticise after dinner, just as I have a mind,
without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, herdsman or
critic."

See, this is bullshit. Society is highly specialized. A
person can not just be a janitor in the morning, and a brain
surgeon in the afternoon. It will simply not work.

> No true scotsman argument.

Varoufakis wrote a terrific essay here that was
also used as the introduction to a recent edition of the
manifesto.

> See, this is bullshit. Society is highly specialized. A

brain
surgeon in the afternoon. It will simply not work.

Marx didn't mean that no one should be specialized. What he
meant was that people should live full, humane lives full of
leisure and personal growth rather than working 16 hour days
6 or 7 days a week at dull repetitive dehumanizing tasks, a
very common lifestyle at the time he was writing.

Right, they shouldn't.
But we don't need full communism for that. Goverment
regulations and strong unions can help to better the
situation.

I speak eloquently on the subject of Communism, sagely and
expansively. I have your complete collective attention; all
eyes, ears and enquiring minds are focused on me.

At the end I summarise the points I've touched upon and draw
them together to present a powerfully persuasive conclusion.
I take a moment to look each and every one of you in the
eye. I smile and add humbly "But what do I know?"

I move my chair back and as I rise a gasp escapes from my
rapt audience. My fly is undone, and my whole
not-inconsiderate length is exposed.

The entire time I was talking my John Thomas was out.

And I knew all along.

And you did not.

It makes me a little sad, makes me think of perhaps a
sheltered, shy young boy at school not realising it was a
bit odd
and being teased mercilessly. I am emphatically
not drawing on painful personal experience.

I'd have been mortified at the time, but now with the (many)
advancing years, I feel a mischievous urge to perhaps now
adopt and reclaim the practice, in a pub bog or the work's
khazi.
