ahhh traditional Canadian comedy. If you want the audience
to know something is funny, talk in a funny voice, wear a
funny hat, periodically look at the camera and pull a face
accompanied by a "boing-oing-oing" sound effect

see also: wayne and shuster

nardwuar, he's cool for his crate digger knowledge and snoop
seems to tolerate him, so that's alright

I wanna check out that 1930s weed songs album

liked Martin Short.

Belb, yeah he’s an enigma to me. I can’t read him.

Fleetmouse, not sure about this olden days humour!

by the way do u guys like ricky gervais? u don't cause he's
british and now world famous right? "i used to like him back
in the the office days."

gervais got too much fames and moneys. though how much of
his shtick is the "character gervais" faux-arrogantly
reacting to success is open to debate. the radio shows he
did with steve merchant and karl pilkington were fucking
hilarious but ricky always played the high status character,
it doesn't endear him to me

but guys the smarmy high status gervais is the character
he's playing, no? there wouldn't be ricky gervais comedy
without it

I don’t mind Gervais, even if he is “too successful”
for some people. He’s done some good comedy but it’s
true that after Extras things weren’t as fresh anymore. He
does seem like an annoying little man but like someone
mentioned I wonder how much of that is an act. I can see how
he can get up some people’s nose though. Kyle Pilkington
is ace. Probably very professional all the while being
extremely genuine. There’s this documentary he did where
he visits so-called intellectuals. The bit with Will Self
was great. I enjoyed his podcasts with gervais and merchant,
and idiot abroad was funny but I’ve lost track now as
he’s always on Sky (which I don’t have)

He’s actually rather good, and I don’t think he makes a
funny voice on purpose. He’s a character for sure, but his
homework is frightening!

Ha ha I didn’t know he’s also angered quite a few
people! Even that nice guitarist from Blur (who later
apologised and said he felt shamed of that interview).

with el-p?
