I already bought a Nintendo Switch as an Early Birthday
Present To Myself last year and I Pre-Order all the games I
want with my Amazon Prime Subscription, so there isn't much
out there I Need in terms of Material Goods. I guess I could
always use some Starbucks Giftcards.

What I (and Everyone) really needs for an Early Christmas
Present To Ourselves this year is the Blue Wave. We need to
Take Back The House and The Senate on November 6 so we can
Impeach Trump!

I tell you: one must have chaos in one, to give birth to a
dancing star. I tell you: you still have chaos in you.

Alas! The time is coming when man will give birth to no more
stars. Alas! The time of the most contemptible man is
coming, the man who can no longer despise himself.

Behold! I shall show you the Ultimate Man.

‘What is love? What is creation? What is longing? What is
a star?’ thus asks the Ultimate Man and blinks.

The earth has become small, and upon it hops the Ultimate
Man, who makes everything small. His race is as
inexterminable as the flea; the Ultimate Man lives longest.

‘We have discovered happiness,’ say the Ultimate Men and
blink.

They have left the places where living was hard: for one
needs warmth. One still loves one’s neighbour and rubs
oneself against him: for one needs warmth.

Sickness and mistrust count as sins with them: one should go
about warily. He is a fool who still stumbles over stones or
over men!

A little poison now and then: that produces pleasant dreams.
And a lot of poison at last, for a pleasant death.

They still work, for work is entertainment. But they take
care the entertainment does not exhaust them.

Nobody grows rich or poor any more: both are too much of a
burden. Who still wants to rule? Who obey? Both are too much
of a burden.

No herdsman and one herd. Everyone wants the same thing,
everyone is the same: whoever thinks otherwise goes
voluntarily into the madhouse.

‘Formerly all the world was mad,’ say the most acute of
them and blink.

They are clever and know everything that has ever happened:
so there is no end to their mockery. They still quarrel, but
they soon make up – otherwise indigestion would result.

They have their little pleasure for the day and their little
pleasure for the night: but they respect health.

‘We have discovered happiness,’ say the Ultimate Men and
blink.

no they're never freshly baked, they're industrial products
or prepared ahead of the festivities if you buy it from the
bakery, which costs an arm, like 15 euros. i get a 3 euros
brand at the supermarket, pretty decent for that price.
lower is shit.

weird Nintendo premium, they try to create scarcity of their
own products and drive prices up so they can capitalise on
it in various ways, bit like Disney

I'm making my son use his birthday money to buy me The Marx
Engels Reader Second Edition edited by Robert C. Tucker

"But papa", he cries through tears, "what about the gulag?
Aren't you setting us on The Road to Serfdom?"

"This is what happens to dissidents" I bark at him tenderly,
throttling his preferred stuffed animal.

The switch was much cheaper at launch. Hyperflake it’s
called Switch tax. Almost every game is more expensive and
what makes it even more ridiculous is that people (myself
included) double dip after already having it on another
platform (where it runs ten times better). The only
advantage being that you can comfortably play it on the
toilet.

As for xmas, I never really want much. Wouldn’t mind an
amazon gift voucher, as I recently depleted my balance with
a bunch of “classics to go” for 99c each.

yeah its a bit of a con, psychology, its like what apple do
with their products they create hype, create a culture of
people wanting to own a specific brand or what not, im
sometime susceptible to it myself. not that the switch isn't
a great bit of kit, its all just more expensive than it
should be, as you say some of the games have been released
multiple times

I’m quite chuffed.

Got the Kubrick masterpiece collection on Blu Ray
Jbl wired headphones
A xiaomi motion activated night light
A T-shirt
A notepad
“The choice” by Edith Eger

Might get myself a switch game later - either rayman
legends, diablo 3, civ 6, roller coaster tycoon or cities
skylines- can’t decide!

I've got diablo and civ on the switch, Both are fantastic. I
prefer civ as a game but diablo is definitely more suited to
portable bitesize chunks, also civ is only the base game,
the expansions haven't been announced for switch whereas
diablo is complete. I have cities on PC and will be amazed
if it runs well on switch once you've got a decent size city
going.
