Nintendo did so well (love my mini snes), sega followed
(skipped that), and I’m hesitating with the neo geo, but
now Sony are in! If the twenty games really hit
the nail then I’ll probably get one. With the neo geo
I’m not sure coz you have to buy joypads and a hdmi cable
sperately. It’s a cool little object, mind.

arg, they should emulate the arcade versions of tekken 3 and
ridge racer and so on, not the psx versions

That’s asking a bit much, and not so relevant in the mini
console world, you moaner! Though a mini arcade box with 20
retro games would be ace obv! As a separate thing. All the
early mid to late nineties mega classics!

Surprised they didn't wait until next year for the 25th
anniversary but I guess they'll be releasing PS5 then

if they were serious about tekken 3 they'd take the arcade
version's sound and graphics and add the extra gameplay
features of the home version

gotta be grumpy at the lack of creativity that comes from
these corporates. fuck it. ive got all the psx games
downloaded already. but mame is shit at these sort of
games.

sega model 2 emulator is so much fun, virtua fighter 2
arcade version blows away the sega saturn port. has 3d
backgrounds and so on.

The Tekken stuff would be up to namco and they obviously
don't give a shit, look at how bare bones T7 is.

Also you should get a vita tv and crack it. The PS1
emulation is great.

pain in the arse to get working

i used to play japanese version of ff7 on my ps3
you can do a chocobo magic attack early in the game called
chocobuckle, in the japanese version there's a bug that
means it powers up chocobuckle for every time you run away
from a fight
but in this version you cant copy items with the witem bug,
you lose an item instead

the international version is more fun though, with ruby and
emerald weapon fights

love the gameplay on this game, it goes deep if you want it
to

It’s a little pricey but if that thing gets cracked so I
can load roms on it then I might.

Re: neogeo- the switch eshop is full of neogeo games - so
getting my fix there. Never had one back in the day, don’t
really have any nostalgic attachment to the design.

Mini snes is great, said the ex mega drive boy. Loaded mine
with extra roms- fun times.

Yeah ACA (I think) have been doing brilliant work keeping
the Neo Geo games alive, they're a bit pricey but given a
consolised MVS is still £2-300 and the games are collector
priced I can't complain. Capcom's beat-em-up collection that
came out this week is the sweet spot for me, 7 games, really
well emulated, under 20 quid. I'm not after more boxes, just
give me good preservation on existing consoles.

I was messing around with MAME last night, got 95 gigs of
roms, I mostly play vertical shooters, your mind switches
off and you get into a zone

Speaking of physical vs digital, for the switch I’ve gone
mostly digital, for convenience and digital is usually
cheaper (with some exceptions - MARIO odyssey I think was
cheaper physical). Don’t mind the odd cute console though,
must say.

I also love that they’re preserving the oldies on modern
formats.

It’s great that Nintendo cares. They said with that the
nes mini shortage it wasn’t planned. Basically they
underestimated the demand. They’re back in stock now with
the snes.

So I got one today. Thinking it was a stroke of luck I
didn’t hesitate. Only later did I realise it was a new
limited run. Still a fuck off short controller cable and
only one pad. Both those consoles were such a part of m
childhood I’m glad I have them both. Chuffed as ever.
Playing ff6 on the snes atm.

I remember going to my godfather’s house for a weekend,
he’s just received the Japanese import some time before
the European release. Was Christmas 1994, and I was in awe.
He had ridge racer and battle arena toshinden. Had to wait
until the following Christmas to get my hands on one. No I
wasn’t an adult yet.
