real talk it always was a scene more then a genre with
common attributes,,,lots of stuff comming out now could b
called idm if it was connected 2 the anchors of that scene
(labels and smaller communitys) but they mostly either
detatched from it or dissolved completely

Even with autechre putting out what is possibly their best
album this year you're right, it's over. EDM won, Joyrex
won, Social Justice won.

But they only won the battle. As we pick over the bones of
the American century new snare rolls will be found,
reflected in the collapse of western civilisation as
prophesied by Richard just this month. IDM will return, the
music of internment camps, suicide bombers vests and gang
rape in dark alleyways with melodies played on the ribs of
yankee refugees.

IDM may be dead but make sure your spirit is not Thad, for
we will need you by our side for the resurrection.

Do you ever post something to be funny or try and act cool,
or had a few adult beverages in you to later regret or think
"that wasn't my best post?"

If I go to Pitchfork, inbetween the header ad and the
cookies consent footer there's a 2-inch letterbox for me to
read anything.

I didn't read anything.

That album's been growing on me, it's great for hot weather
listening with a big mug of something cold.

This whole styles being in and out idea is a nonsense now.
Anyone can do anything in any genre and if it's good it will
find an audience.

i just went to fuckparade some weeks ago. 4,5 wagons going
through the city and lots of people following. djs were
playing vsnares and other good stuff and noise and gabber
and dnb. my hopes went up. i remember going to places like
zentrale randlage in Berlin in the noughies listening to
live break core acts and having a blast. all that vanished
from berlin

Music's not the same, is it? It doesn't serve the same
purpose anymore. Would Detroit-robbing IDM be able to
withstand accusations of cultural appropriation in this
feverish climate? You want to see if "Intelligent Drum 'n
Bass" would be allowed to get a pass these days? Just call
it White Jungle and be done with, HITLER!?!?!?

No.

It's all fucking NGO-approved twee acoustic cover versions,
or auto-tuned refugee rap. And NOTHING else.

No IDM.

No IDea Music.

ANYTHING.
