personally, i think at this point you shouldn't depend on
others thoughts but make an album or ep out of it

Are these generative?

i liked the whole "timbre", the sound palette, the changes
within the tracks

and to not sound too "patronising" and giving some critic:
sometimes i wished the melodies were more out there or
complex

to add up to indeksicals question
is it something you could play/generate live with hardware
synths or is it arranged from lots of soundbits on the
computer? or is it both?

offline RussellDust on 2018-09-05 14:01 [#02560457]

I made that comment because I feel that AMPI knows his a
friend is good, and that he wasn’t necessarily here for
validation but made a sweet gesture towards us saying “I
value your opinion”. I wasn’t implying everyone should
love it.

“Knows his friend is good”? Wtf autocorrect!?

big thanks for listening guys. glad u like this kind of
sound. will just try and answer a few of ur questions here.

these are just made with reason 5. there are lfos and
pattern generators that modify and trig things and a lot of
that is random. i try and randomise things more than paint
them precisely. it could be done with simple hardware and
routing as far as i know

i try to make these tracks sound tapey but its not 'about'
tape aesthetic exactly, i just dont feel its right unless
things sound velvety and mouldy. glad to see russ say 'deep
techno vibes' for example.

mohamed: cos they are all experiments and sometimes i just
feel like something new

offline AMPI MAX from United Kingdom on 2018-09-16 02:09 [#02561155]

a lot of these are refurbished old tracks that i thought i
couldnt turn good. i did some drastic transforming of them
but going back to them sort of made me interested in simple
patterns so i tried to do more with that. a lot of things
have a clunky, obvious, stiff kinda feel (like in 17:30 glad
u liked that one mm). so i have that but with touches of
random + subtle flourishes. comes out a weird style. a lot
of the tunery is really jsut moving around in 5ths and 7ths
or whatever - i dont even know the terminology

mostly refurbished here dude, you sharp your blade on your
own shit, for life, this shit of making brand new and
'totally different' tracks is good only for bandcamp
releases

refurbished as also keeping a single wave of the old track
mind you
