Some big DJs use ghost mixers when they can't be arsed to even play some tracks for an hour for a trendy website or radio show or something. If a DJ came to you and asked you to do a mix for them would you do it?

Sorry mate. Gonna have to disown you now.
Actually it's a great idea. Hope you make loads of cash doing it.

I made fuck all, like £50 a mix. I only did it cos i'd have an hour or two free in my day. This was a while back though, wouldn't do it now I think.
Actually I definitely would if it was a quiet month because I'm terrible with money.

the only mixing i can do is laborious wave editing / tramp cider drinking. i guess i could slap something together and just hit play? dunno if that would be acceptable to potential bigwig djs

I've only done 2 mixes for myself in my life. You don't need to be a DJ to do this because no one cares. The client just wants the name and doesn't care about the mix, the DJ just wants the money/promo and doesn't care about the mix and it's not your mix and never will be so you don't care about the mix.
I'm so dumb I didn't realise I was even doing it the first time. I got an email which basically said 'hello ive been given your contact from x record label, i have to do a mix for apple music and want to use ableton but ive not really used it before as i normally use traktor. could you get these 15 songs to be tempo locked please?'
So I did that and let them know and then got a reply of 'thats great do you think you could put them in an order and do a simple mix between tracks so i can get an idea of what they sound like?' and I thought god this guys fucking dumb but then a week later it was a featured mix on apple music and I realised I was the dumb one.

I can't say, the bad juju will come back to get me. These people have Google alerts set up for their names for god's sake and I work with them on 'live' shows occasionally now.

Yeah, I'd definitely do it, if it's as easy as it sounds in this thread. You just make the mix in Ableton, send them the project file and they press play? So there's no "live performance" requirement at all?
