Guitars In Electronica?

Siamese Twin from Below Hell on 2001-07-01 02:18 [#00011605]

What's everyone's opinion on using guitars in electronica
and IDM?

Ross on 2001-07-01 03:12 [#00011612]

well, electric or bass or anything? Squarepusher has done
some wonderful bass stuff..

radiowerkshop from canada on 2001-07-01 03:16 [#00011613]

i don't care if someone takes a dump in a bucket and uses it
in a track.
if it sounds good :)

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-07-01 11:46 [#00011629]

Siamese Twin: Remove the bold-tags from your name. OK?

Glitch from New Zealand on 2001-07-01 12:37 [#00011636]

How could they be a issue at all, music is music, and
guitars have been in electronic music as long as electronic
music has been around, any one for disco ? no? didnt think
so :)

Glitch from New Zealand on 2001-07-01 12:39 [#00011637]

by the way, Ive played guitars in some of my IDM tracks, "If
I Bothered To Think..." is made with only guitar for music

if interested go to

www.mp3.com/tendrils

poe from the uk on 2001-07-01 13:30 [#00011643]

heh....bold tags in your name....lol

guitar is dance, well prodigy did an extremely good job of
it! even if you didnt like their stuff, you have to take
your hat off to their hard dance and thrashing
guitar...aswell as psychotic shouting.....

but in general, guitars are lame, inefficent at producing
good sound (un less with effects pedals) and sound so alike

rF from inside a piece of techno on 2001-07-02 07:41 [#00011720]

i use guitars in my idm stuff sometimes, and i have a
separate industrial project similar to nine inch nails but a
bit more hardcore.

Fat of the Land was a disgracefully shite album. Music for
the Jilted Generation was definitely their best effort.

To hear a wicked example of acoustic guitar in electronica
check out DEO by AMON TOBIN.

Glitch from New Zealand on 2001-07-02 11:51 [#00011761]

Jesus-Fucking-Christ poe you sound like someone who doesnt
know what theyre talking about, "Guitars sound all the same"
thats the sort of thing a old person might say about All
electronic music, "those electronic bands all sound the
same, same boring thump thump music". and of course we know
thats not true dont we poe, so dont say something if you
dont know anything.

Bad-Boy on 2001-07-02 14:22 [#00011762]

Chrispy from the land of bordom on 2001-07-02 16:28 [#00011815]

Havent you been arrested yet?

Glitch from New Zealand on 2001-07-02 16:58 [#00011822]

Now this post has got silly, I was just bringing something
to the attention of poe which he obviously hadnt thought of
yet, come on, were here to learn shit as well as talk about
Dick.

Chrispy from the land of bordom on 2001-07-02 17:03 [#00011827]

I know you're right it's just some of these cowboys with
vulgar words in their names get on my tits with their
un-justified ramblings and insults. Soz glitch. 4give me? :|

poe from the uk on 2001-07-02 17:03 [#00011828]

ok, you dumb morons, just lidten to ANY guitar msuic,
...........repetitive crap, unoriginal, over produced and
sounding crap, listen for your self!

and no need to insult, that proves your complete dumbness,
you are so stupid, you cant make your arguments have a good
point, so you are reduced to petty insults.

as to fighting me, bring it on, I live in hemel hempstead, I
will fight ANYONE regardless of their size or how they look,
if they annoy me so much, i will smack them, be warned loser

i'm sick! on 2001-07-03 09:32 [#00011932]

poe - that is just your opinion.
i'm new here but have been reading for a while and have
gathered an understanding as to why people are pissed off
with you.
you are too forceful with your opinions and dismiss and
insult anyone who disagrees with you. you need help.

fluffy bunny on 2001-07-03 09:45 [#00011936]

yeah i agree with poe.
i was listening to jimmy page playing some led zepplin tunes
and they're all so repetitive and boring. and i can't stand
jimmy hendrix, i feel he never tried hard enough as his
music was so lame.

please understand that all of the above is sarcastic lying
and that i think poe is a big idiot.

Chrispy from the land of bordom on 2001-07-03 09:46 [#00011938]

gave me a heart attack there for a minute mate!!!

streamer on 2001-07-03 09:55 [#00011940]

This is so easy!
The best way to make poe look like the twat he is, is to
simply let him continue to spout the shit which so easily
flows from his mouth.
Remarks such as "Listen to ANY guitar
music........repetetive crap" only serve to underline his
complete lack of knowledge/objectiveness in regard to music.
How anyone can disregard an entire genre of music because it
may currently not be the most fashionable thing (which are
your reasons whatever you may say), is beyond me.
Hendrix?
Led Zep?
Cream?
Soungarden?
Too many others too mention.....
poe - you may never speak with authority on any subject ever
again.......not that you ever did.
Twat.

streamer on 2001-07-03 10:05 [#00011945]

As for them being unoriginal, the guitar (like any
instrument) is simply a vehicle for the musician.
Therefore it is not the instrument which is unoriginal, but
the musician.

Chrispy from the land of bordom on 2001-07-03 10:08 [#00011946]

very good point and well made

phiz from Amsterdam on 2001-07-03 11:17 [#00011950]

ok, you dumb morons, just lidten to ANY guitar msuic,
...........repetitive crap, unoriginal, over produced and
sounding crap, listen for your self!

FUCKINELL!!!!

Jimi Hendrix
Frank Zappa
Jimmy Paige

3 reasons poe is just a bit of a tit.

Chrispy from the land of bordom on 2001-07-03 11:19 [#00011951]

Thats a very blinkered point of view there.

Chrispy from the land of bordom on 2001-07-03 11:21 [#00011952]

Just thought I'd say that SAW1 is extreamly repeatitive. If
you listen to it, It's just as repeatitive. But its good.
And guitars have a beautiful sound. If I said the word
guitar; What are the first few things you think of?

Glitch from New Zealand on 2001-07-03 11:53 [#00011957]

Metallica and Pink Floyd

hi

Siamese Twin from The Dark Side on 2001-07-03 15:12 [#00011989]

Guys. I was talking about acoustic guitar. I was just
wondering how people might react to my songs. They are a
cross between
acoustic/dance/electronica/hip-hop(instrumental)/trip-hop
and drum'n'bass. I have a really wide range of influences.

Chrispy from the UK Plains of Noise on 2001-07-03 15:15 [#00011990]

I was thinking about acoustic and electric. That sounds
cool... Have you got any for me to download?

SWAI from Denmark on 2001-07-03 16:37 [#00012010]

Anyone who doubts the powers of guitars, listen 2 steve wai.
that guy is as fucked up as aphex twin, i tell ya. really
good. he uses this pitch altering machine when he sings.
wictor wooden is good to.
(high pitch chipmunk singing to)

well....
check boards of canada. most of their synth lines are
actually electric guitar being fucking processed.
in my personal opinion, guitars sound nice, both acoustic,
or electric, both processed or overprocessed. it´s an
excellent instrument. saying that everything done with it
its shit its not very smart imo. i mean... go on and
research in the history of modern music...
