same effect?

maybe, technically yes. but old gear has its own charme. the
midi verb ii is just great and you can get one for 40 euros.
for the rest you can use a computer

thats why im asking these things here. maybe i should stop
and do that on gearslutz or muffwiggler, or whatever.
(actually doing that, already, hehe) but i thought people
here have different insights

umbroman for example got me to buy a yamaha pss-380, which
is insanely cool for the money. im trying to find cheap,
good hardware to get some variation for little money. i also
have a midi verb ii that i bought for 40 euros and its just
great

i always just made music on the computer, started with buzz,
then fruity loops, then ableton. i had some hardware but
sold everything through the times to be able to afford other
things. now, that im getting all cozy in my apartment i
started buying gear again.

Mess around to death with what you have, when you’re done

>>>maybe, technically yes. but old gear has its own charme
if the entire signal chain is 12 bit then you get wildly
different results bcuz of the feedback loop inside reverbs

why did they have 12 bits in those old samplers and reverb
units anyway? Was there bus size 4 bits??? Or what did they
use the extraneous 4 bits for..
