hello

illustrator has taken control of all my pics and pdf files,
it means that if i double click on them, they will be opened
by illustrator (tryout) and not by preview. how do i fix
that? thanks.

right click (or ctrl-click) on a file, thoose "get info",
then change the "open with" selection to Preview and click
"change all", then all files of that type will open in
Preview. You'd have to do this with one jpg, one gif, one
tif, etc.

Uninstalling Illustrator should also revert it to default.
Maybe there's a setting in the Illustrator preferences to
make it stop opening certain file types, dunno.

I bet when it was installing it asked you if you wanted to
use it for all graphics and you were like duh ok

i did both the things, uninstalled illustrator (and wont be
able to install it anymore, since the disk images i have are
rotten) and that reverted to preview when i double clicked
on them to open them, and had to do the right click stuff
for the icons to become preview icons again and not Ai.

thanks mate!

Go to system preferences. I’m not by my computer but it
looks like there must be a faulty setting. It’s that
“open with” default thing. Find it! I can’t help as
I’m on the iPad.
