i think that what differentiates autechre by other intelligent dance artists is that they work with the sound of math and not math in itself, that sound is always put in the front and not a diplaying of intelligence per se. more an intelligent way to do things, which does not excude an instinctive and ever amateurish (in the good sense, as fresh) approach to music. autechre is everything but to be fooled by math imho. |

if you dont know what a parameter change affects the sound in theory, you must at least know and sometimes predict how a parameter will change sound at the practical level to favour your combos. getting rid of all the disturbances to clean up the line of your thinking into the sound, or something. |
