a) Die Hard

b) Lethal Weapon

if you're on twitter: Poll

I can’t rem if it’s LW or LW 2 that I prefer so for that
reason I’m going to say Die Hard. Home Alone beats Die
Hard. Is this poll for manly men mostly?

No, females love great action classics also

I knew that was coming, and I never meant that FFS, I
can’t stand this... it’s everywhere. Stop it, I am not a
sexist, nor a fucking moron who thinks girls only like
romantic comedies and fluffy toys. It’s why I said
“mostly”, because trust me, the choice here is basically
action with a little comedy, it’s not fucking wrong, or
sexist, un-PC to point that out.

Sorry, that was a bit of an outburst. I just get frustrated
sometimes, especially with someone quite close to me, so I
snapped. Sorry piano man, I’m sure you meant well.

Well... you brought up gender, not me o_O

Yes, it’s quite obvious to me why, or am I a bigot? Not
saying that in twenty years there will be no gap, or hardly,
but men and women are quite different, wouldn’t you agree?
Why is that such a problem to admit today? People are mixing
everything up.

I don’t want to go into cliches, obviously pink and blue,
that was programmed into parents, then into the children,
and many girls like to play outside doing what I’m scared
to now call “boys stuff”. My sister climbed trees with
me and I would sometimes play my little poney with her. But
she was clearly a girl (I don’t mean just physical) and I
was a boy.

Do you really think that with Die Hard Andy leathal weapon
it’s a 50/50 male/female audience? It’s a nice thought.
I very much doubt it, but then gender is a really touchy
subject right now, and sometimes people act preachy when it
fact they haven’t given it a moment’s thought, too
scared to not fit the current trend. Stating what is
currently the obvious shouldn’t be seen as sexism.

Difference is good. Soon even personality will be treated,
and society will be devoid of anything worthwhile because we
will all be the same.

I’m clearly touchy here, I’ll admit that. I mean well.

its not at all weird to think action=boys,
let me throw a few things in and we can think for ourselves,
whether they are a society programmed preferred thing or not
or why we think like this.
(this may be a really awkward and uncoherent post
think of it as a brainstorm)

action figures and action cartoons
japanese manga/anime gender specific titled genres
tv advertisements, marketing and target groups

i dont know where it came from but i have a pretty clear
image of action themed shows, movies and merchandise that
was produced for a specific gender audience and in my memory
that genre seperation was super strong in my generation,
growing up in the 90s and 80s.
so naturally for us its not unusual to think of a show or a
movie and say boystuff girlstuff.

When i was 10 I used to pretend I was robocop with a shot
gun and my bed was the top of a speeding train and I was
blowing away bad guys, I don't know how intrinsic that is to
being heterosexual but it seem sort of action and motion was
instinctually inbuilt into me, definitely some sort of
hidden connection

Christmas Vacation, Home Alone and Bad Santa are the best
three. Die Hard, although set at christmas isn't themed
properly to be a TRUE christmas film, no matter how much one
enjoys watching German's terrorists get murdered.

I like the Patrick stewart Christmas carol as it has him in
it, Richard E grant, and the ghost of Christmas past looks a
bit like brain eno
