Me. Not in a « wow this is going to be amazing, new,
thought provoking AND Star Wars » way though. More in a
« this will be fun, better than any of the prequels
anyway » way.

kids all go back to school.

ep 7 was decent and rogue one was okaaaaaayyyyy... but orcs
and octopuses don't belong in star wars

and neither do the goombas from that mario bros movie, that
casino scene looks a bit odd

yeah the Cgi gnome looked really out of place, didn't anyone
say to the director, this looks a bit shit compared to the
rest of the film

I'll see it, I'll probably see it about 3 times. I'll take
Master LOL whilst bearing in mind when we went to see Rogue
One he said "Can I get some food to entertain myself?"...
I'm prepared to be mildly surprised, I guess the pressure's
off since Force Awakens and I dare say this one will be a
bit "ooooh" darker. There'll be some tedious twist, some
amaaaa...(*yawn*)...aaazing revelation, some great loss.
Some throwing of fan favourites into the mix (ooh a T-16,
was that Bossk?!?!? Fin's related to Chewie!?!??!)

I'm not looking forward to it, per se, about the same level
of enthusiasm as RD displays.

Like with TFA you will praise it at first and then have a
right old go at it later when you won’t be able to bare it
all anymore. Probably all triggered by a porg.

offline obara from Utrecht on 2017-12-31 16:50 [#02541263]

after the disappointment TFA was I was looking forward to
seeing new Blade Runner on big screen. but again: what I saw
at the cinema was some kind of "soft reboot". so this time,
when it was time for new Star Wars and another possible trip
to the nearest cinema I thought "fuck it, I don't want to
leave the cinema half-deaf and let down again - I'll just
rent it this time and TRY to watch the whole of it" - and
I'll keep enjoying youtube buckets of shit that Mark Hammill
has poured on TLJ so far. official Star Wars: r.i.p. for
me. well done JJ, you fucked it up.

Rogue One was surprisingly very enjoyable to watch, maybe
cause I expected the worst, made me want to watch it again.

~offtopic: not intending to sound like an old grumpy man,
lol. I feel lucky to be finding some bearable/decent sci-fi
now and then. I enjoyed Arrival, also had fun seeing
[finally] the new Alien [Covenant] despite it's stupidity
and being another "soft reboot"

Points: 31006 Status: Lurker

arrival was good yeah, I enjoyed alien covenant, at least it
wasn't as bad as alien resurrection

Alien 4 was somewhat "abstract funny" [basketball? or the
"crying" alien/human baby] or just meandering into B or C
movie area thanks to Jeunet in a way that was just
funny/laughable but it WASN'T rehashing previous films plots
just like A:C did with Alien1. what's happening today in
the "sci-fi classics comeback department" is just... sad.

I did like the ripley mutations scene, and a few other
things, I know the director is talented, it felt a bit to
much like a comic book for my personal tastes. Whats
frustrating about Prometheus is there is half a decent idea
there, but isn't take far enough, the fact they made the
space jockey have proto human origins was really shit, it
takes away from the horror of the unknown if you give stuff
prosaic origins. I always preferred how the original giger
one looked like in the first Alien film, weird and
unknowable, not a giant slaphead in a space suit

"I always preferred how the original giger one looked

giant slaphead in a space suit
"

Well, exactly. It's like a lot of things that are at pains
to explain everything, and in the process just rob
any of the magic and ambiguity that people enjoyed whatever
it was in the first place. The "arc" in Alien now that we
upset the Engineers (*vomit*), destroyed one of their
planets and that that somehow leads to the original Alien
... blurrrgh, Fan Fiction territory.

For some reason I love alien covenant. Probably my second
favourite. It is a mess though, they should never have leant
so heavily on the engineers although thats the fault of
Prometheus which made the utterly stupid mistake of being a
prequel.

Would have been far more sensible imo to skip a lot of
Prometheus and have bits of it plus covenant as a divergent
sequel to alien with weyland yutani sending out a mission
based on info they find in the first two movies.

yet to own a Blu-ray, but will be getting the new Twin

Well she shouldn’t be doing that! To each his own,
especially in a field that is still pretty subjective. Also
Kermode is not God of Ultimate Taste.

covenant so i can understand why she took exception to me
doubling up 5 times on top of buying a much maligned movie.

Han's dead, princess is dead, luke is dead and yoda is an
arsonist. and 3po had a red arm.

imdb movie rating= minus 10

well done.

you cat make it up...oh wait, some how, they did.

The powers to destroy the west, as we know it, have even
taken control of our fave movies to weaken the core strength
of the mind.

Next up

Disney to re-release the original trilogy as a special
edition...new cgi , new characters included ...Luke dies
early in scene 3 of new hope....han flips burgers at
canteen. and the story takes us somewhere completely
different.

totally blind after the end of return of the jedi and no one
noticed

no one as any idea how they are going to make a new film

first scene:

Death star appears out of a planetry shadow

is immeditaly destroyed by planet which turns out to be
super death star!
