oh yeah I forgot this thread.
I don't think art (in the broadest sense, encompassing film and literature etc.) needs to have a pragmatic justification but one of the major ones is that it takes us out of ourselves and makes us inhabit someone else's skin for a while. It strengthens the muscles of the imagination that are necessary to empathize with other people, especially people very unlike ourselves.
Human Flow was good art in that sense.
Belb, I did see it at the Cinemar, I'm not one for getting out to the big screen often. Glad I did for this one.
