idm/braindance/warp music?

I think I first started listening to dance music when I was
at school; everybody listened to rave music then - you know,
The Prodigy, Altern8, Utah Saints etc. I bought my first
Aphex album when I was about fifteen, back in 1993/1994.

There's always been underground intelligent electronic music
tho...IDM is just it's current popular(ish) form...

These genres don't just suddenly appear - there's a whole
history & flow to this music; you can probably trace it back
to the early 20th century....listen to some Stockhausen or
some musique concrete & you'll hear a lot of the roots of
IDM...
