I was surprised to see that the Zatoichi films were barely mentioned, and then only almost in passing by Rich right near the end, and the pair covered things in the review without seemingly realising their connection. The film contains many nods and elements from the Zatoichi films in general: the style of holding the sword, exposing crooked gambling houses, the smile of the blind swordsman that seems foolish and lulls villains in a false sense of superiority, etc. |
