I love the quote at the end of the second part

"All Stanley's life he said, 'Never, ever go near power.
Don't become friends with anyone who has real power. It's
dangerous"

Good quote, yes. Explains his move to England.

I dunno, when it comes to all these theories floating around
the Shining, I'm never left fully sastified. Did you watch
Room 237?

I haven't watched that one, I watched another one by the guy
who did the video I posted, about the layout of the overlook
hotel being physically impossible to subconsciously effect
the viewer in an eerie way, I believe that is true as
Kubrick was notoriously meticulous when it came to every
aspect of the his film productions

Now you're talking. Give me anything Kubrick. Haven't
watched this one, will have to do so. I also recommend Room
237 - brings together a lot of the theories, including the
one about the overlooks layout. Kubrick definitely played
around with sub narratives. Native American genocide I buy.
It is quite obvious. Not so sure about the moon landing
stuff, all interesting however and well thought out.

I'm also afraid of flying.

Will watch this viddy later. For now though standing in a
long queue, about to see Depeche Mode. Cool techno emanating
from the stadium.

I think his observations are valid and some of these details
may very well have been intentional.

I don’t why, but that photo is just so spooky. Something
sinister about the look of those people. Leaves me feeling
uneasy, in an interested way.

I will watch more of this Ager fellows stuff now. Wouldn’t
mind those dvds either.

Just a quick log in log out from me now. Gtg

Hey yes, that photo gives me the creeps as well, I think
probably because they are all obvious elitists, the men in
particular have very stern looks

yes he is insightful, I don't agree with everything he says
mind, like his interpretation of the monolith in 2001 as the
cinema screen I think is unsatisfactory,

That is a common observation, I've always liked it. When
bowman is pointing to the monolith (screen), he is actually
pointing at us, the audience, breaking the 4th wall. Or
something like that.

I think I may have seen some of these videos b4

yes I like that it is an interpretation on one level, that
we the audience are the uncomprehending chimpanzees, I don't
think its the literally message behind the film, but one of
many

Kubrick never offered any interpretations, so we can try to
theorise until we go blue in the face.

His movies are endlessly detailed.

It all seems so precise and a lot of it is, but he would ofc
change some of it as it went along to, like Ager said, with
the gold room, also rewriting during the shining. It's a
smorgasbord of details. That's why it's so damn compelling.

Narratives, hidden meanings aside, on the surface I've
always loved his movies for the acting and excellently
framed shots.

I sit up straight when watching Kubrick. Few other films
grab my attention like that. When people speak, I listen.
There's an immediacy to it which I love.

yes that's my issue. the guy presents his interpretation as
the definite answer, where I don't think there is one, which
is why its compelling because its a mystery. Its partially
why the new alien films are annoying in that regard cos
Ridley Scott is now saying how things are in his mind when
that wasn't the original intention of the script writers

Rob Ager's videos are decent for someone who was a former
UKIP rep
