John Cage? The term was coined because of him, you know.

[Next, in 1952, pianist and longtime associate David Tudor
premiered Cage's 4'33", known colloquially as "Silence; "
the composer's most notorious work, it asks the performer to
sit at his instrument but play nothing, the environmental
sounds instead produced by a typically uncomfortable
audience. ]
haha

Florian Hecker / Pita? eh mm .. mmhh.. experimental is such
a context based word, like it could be conceptually
experimental also n stuff?

but i guess Richard Devine/Ae are the most enjoyable
'experimental' artists to listen to (or the first that
spring to mind?)

- oh .. shit, almost forgot Otto Von Schirach is kinda out
there, and Mike Dred/Peter Farmer's "virtual farmer" is
kinda out there - ???

i dont care how 'enjoyable' it is, i just wanna see how far
a song can go before it is considered noise..and ive not
heard equation yet

Actually, that's a work in three parts and tudor was really
having problems how to separate those parts, so he decided
that lifting and putting the keyboard lid will mark the
beginnings and ends of each part. But seriously, Cage is to
be thanked (or to blame) for a lot of out-there stuff from
then on, in the field of Classical and in the field of pop
music too (including IDM of course). For example, Ae quote
Bernard Parmegiani as one of the biggest influences, and he
is a french musique concrete composer and this whole genre
owes a lot to Cage, and his "Cartridge music" composition

Try some of the artists off Wire magazines "Wire Tapper"
compilations. Makes ae sound like pop music.
