In 1973, Holdren encouraged a decline in fertility to well
below replacement in the United States, because "210 million
now is too many and 280 million in 2040 is likely to be much
too many."[23] In 1977, Paul R. Ehrlich, Anne H. Ehrlich,
and Holdren co-authored the textbook Ecoscience: Population,
Resources, Environment.

yeah i mean Jones could have added in the context that is a
old book

your not meant to question anything, its why people are so
quick to attack people who question stuff as nutters its
done deliberately insidious indoctrination, it works very
well first 18 years of your life your told how things work
on the surface

should be people are seen as nutters and weak for thinking
people are nutters for questioning things. ; ?

Its hard to blame them, its difficult to break out of rigid
thinking, i think most people suspect things arent as they
should be but it scares them so much they dont want to think
about it. you sort of get hints of show people really feel
when you bring up certain subjects. Occasionally you get
people who take it much further than i would and think
literally everything is conspiratorial

These ^ people are one of the main reasons as to why change
is sooo sloooow. They stifle the free speech of open minded
people, free minded people who fear the insults of such
closed minded dinosaur people on the net or in a pub.

Is there a name for these types who have closed minds that
try to silence people with evidence?

for example 911, you ask them about WTC7, they go all red
faced as their blood pressure rises as their world view is
challenged, and they instead call out " nutter conspiracy
theorist!!"

im sure there must be a name. (dinosaur closed minded,
stockholme syndrome, weak?).

whether we think wtc7 is a smoking gun or not, the point is
to not call people nutters for speculating new perspectives
when there is evidence.
if they are not comfortable thy should be allowed to walk
away or bring evidence to the table.

I have had issues with people, where i have evidence, they
have none. but because they have 'not' heard of what I say
on BBC = they believe it Cant Be True and they pull up
psychological barriers.

i think since the advent of the tv people read less books as
they dont have the patience, we all have dwindling attention
spans, in the future if a song isnt 10 seconds long it will
be too long

yes i think alot of people live in fear and worry, i feel a
bit like Jesus now im older, not in a patronising way, but
sort of like forgive them for they know not what they do, or
rather i empathise that its hard to resist change are the
status quo, you have to have no ego to go against everything
that has been built up through out human history its a
gigantic edifice of oppression, that isnt its primary
function but a side effect of the way things have evolved,
i.e. consolidation of power

It's simple heuristics, really. After the fifth or sixth
time you've tried to talk to someone wearing a jumper for
trousers and holding a SEND HILLARY BACK TO NIBURU placard,
you already know how things will go and you're not eager to
repeat the experience.

I used to be fascinated by crackpot psychology and
epistemology, but in my lifetime I've watched the fringe
engulf the mainstream and it's not amusing any more. I blame
facebook and email forwards.

its my issue with Alex Jones and their ilk, they entertain
stuff that is obvious bananas as well as stuff that could be
considered possibly legit, so it muddies the water somewhat.

it's hard to know what jones thinks is real and what he just
spouts as a form of pandering nutcase clickbait, i think jon
ronson's admittedly optimistic trump-will-lose view is very
revealing about the media machine that follows him nowadays
though. he's more of an unhelpful idiot than a prophet,
that's for sure

Yes was quite amazing how out of touch the media was with
trump and his fan base, he managed to tap into the
'deplorables' as Hillary wrong put, in a condescending,
scoffing way that backfired. I wasnt overly surprised he
won, i think it was very much a protest vote, there are huge
sections of the populous who have little say in what goes
on, I think they made things temporarily worse for
themselves, it backfired but i can understand how they felt

I think the wheels have just fallen off for these people, i
mean they are being cheated and fucked over day in day out
so that leads to irrational behavior and beliefs like a dog
that has been beaten will behave aggressive the rest of its
life.

fucking hell, I've been watching some of those Ricky Gervais
shows on youtube and I want to punch him in the dick. I like
Karl, I like his quiet Taoist insights.

There's one where they're discussing evolution and the
origin of life and Karl's making more sense than them, the
arrogant bastards.

Is the Gervais show like clickbait? Are you supposed to keep
watching because it enrages you?

the ricky gervais podcast used to make me laugh but they are
incredibly cruel to karl, there was a running joke where
ricky used to squeeze karl's head as hard as he could, he
takes a lot of abuse but you can tell the love is there
really, they treat him like a stupid but lovable pet

Karl will often often have a point, but as fucking annoying
Gervais can be, he and Merchant exaggerate the mocking
because it's the dynamic of the show. Most people like Karl
best. I think he says some wonderful stuff. Gervais and tall
guy know that.

I'm trying to think of celebrities I hate. It's really just
reality tv people, and manufactured stars I get upset with.

I'm close to someone who is quite famous and has encountered
an incredible amount of gratuitous hate. It's made me see
things differently.

Sure Gervais seems like a bit of a wanker, but he's proven
he can be funny, and write good stuff.

In the U.K. especially there's this trend of building stars
up and then hating them when they get too big.
