Has anyone tried the fl studio app on iphone? I got hd back about a year and a half ago to a year ago and it turned out to be loads of fun. Never saved anything before getting rid of the iphones i had it on. Had one recently again and redownloaded the app only to find the layout had changed and was ultimately not as fun to use.
Modular is too heavy for me.

This is very interesting (and I like the cellular automata-ish picture too). I like stuff that eludes understanding of how to create it. But I'm starting to understand better now that I've been fiddling with wav files in software because you can edit at the micro level, and change pitch and stuff on the fly. The whole come 2 daddy album is like a showcase of special effects and wizardry, I bet he's a really good programmer if he can do that with sound. It's really tricky to design programs so you have maximum creative ability with minimal fuss, like maximum leverage to do anything you want, even better if you could shape stuff directly in front of you, maybe slowed down so you have more precision, like sculpting clay, rather than just saving a big pile of data and hoping it sounds interesting which is what I kind of do.

Ive found that modulating certain specific effects settings obtop of a pattern as it plays can give it that "complex/never repeated/rare" feeling. I wont name the specifics but the setup used is no more than a moog emulator, a drum synth, and the fruity fx bank widi midi synced to select fx parameters and recorded in edison. Ive been self treaching myself around fl studio presets and editig and what can be done as fast as possible wihout spending hours tediously piano roll programming and drawing and layering. 4-5 channels, 4 fx modules, throw them up while dialing in a 16/32 bar pattern on play, start tweaking the larameters of certain of those few effects to have going, and a littlecan go a log ways. The more i mess around, the more i understand.

yeah, pattern driven effects like filters and stuff can make a song varied. what i do with loops is doing a loop then effect it, as soon as it sound barely varied, i stop. its well enough for me.
