first time I am hearing your stuff so I dont know..if the band name is chalk mouth or champion orange..excuse my ignorance... very cool song..but it's just a bit incongruent...the first drill bit..upto about 40 secs doesnt really work for me in the context of the rest of the song...which has got an excellent melody and bass line...when the drill bits start after all your parts are going its..well brilliant...it's just the first 30 seconds that need to be integrated a bit better..maybe a hint of the melody or the pads as the drill workout is going on..I dont know..but..yes an excellent song... |

Or I like it... or something. Flea, check out this one if you heard only the other... it's fantastic. You're using good quality sounds which is beyond what I'm able to do currently with no microphone or anything. I like music where the sounds are thick and real but constructed with a precise computer (like windowlicker) THe whole song is wicked, the crazy voice-ish samples to the beautiful melody at the end which would have been nice looping forever but instead modestly finished after one solo loop. Classy. Send this to a label phartphace. |

I'll bring this to the top again with two fairly unrelated items: 1) www.mp3.com/dannn is good stuff (some tracks betr than others- similar to otto von schirach and richard devine perhaps) 2) soulseek seems to be down quite often for me ("temporarily down" message), same for anyone else or is my analogue engine just acting up like usual. |

I listened to "pig and moose" and then listened to my own song "reverse tooth pick eater 2" (www.mp3.com/artificialselection) and my song sounded quite patheticish in comparison, which was humorous sort of. I listened to chalk mouth, it seemed pretty good too but not as good as the other mp3 link up there. I'll probably put them to cd sometime since I finally deleted this retarded program "quicktime" that doesn't let you download stuff right. |

ooh..the last two are pretty nice...like the melodies and beats i think i prefer these to the first two tracks from this thread youve done a pretty good job of replicating aphex's style...if thats what you were trying to do...definetly keep going though...i can tell youre in the process of developing your own style on your way to being very good, methinks |

some of it has been trying to replicate rdj's style, but not all to intentionally. I just listen to so much aphex that a lot of the things that sound "good" to me are things that remind me of his music. I've also followed a really really similar path with the software I've used.. I feel like I'm pretty much moving into my own territory now. I want to release an album.. I'm absolutely ready, and I've waited five years and have to start somewhere. |

The way I see it, RDJ has organized sound perfectly... don't even worry about "copying" him, just keep making excellent music and it'll have a good chance sounding similar since what he does is the most logical parietal lobe appealing way almost... like convergent evolution or something, birds and bats developed wings independently but they both nevertheless developed wings. Torque even outdid megaloskizk, I was surprised to hear something even better than that. I'd certainly buy an album with stuff like this on it. |

separation anxiety is excellent too. Quite bizarre circusy composition. You have the percussion and melody down great. I don't think you're quite as good as aphex yet (as appealing, not necessaraly similar too), but close. There's a seriously bizarre mental quality in some of aphex's stuff I havn't heard you doing as good like track 2 off the RDJ album... Better than squarepusher though I think and lots of others. What software do you use? |
