Thnaks, what I want to try next is an "animated animation heat map". Say you have an animation of whatever, maybe an acrobat for 200 frames, 80pixels by 80pixels. Now you make a new 80x80 greyscale "map", animated itself in anyway, for example perhaps horizontal greyscale waves move downwards (blackest on lowest troughs, whitest on highest peaks). Or any other animation. Now since there were 200 frames, you define blackest pixels as frame 0 and whitest pixels as frame 200, dark grey might be 50, light grey might be 150 and everywhere in between. Now you map all pixels to the appropriate frame, so in other words the original animation would have downward moving stripes of time warping. I've made something similar before but not in more interesting per-pixel patterns. |

Another thing I tried briefly that was interesting that I read animators use. You simply combine 2 animations to blend them. Like use maybe 15 points or so for a human frame, a point on the head, hips, elbows, shoulders, etc. Now animate it in 32 frames swimming. Do a different animation 32 frames running. Now simply average the distance between all swimming points and all running points, and the animation ends up appearing in a weird "half swimming half running" motion. And you can weigh it more towards one or the other, so you can slowly blend smoothly from running to swimming over time. |

I think in general the more high pitch something is, the more grating/obnoxious it becomes when repeated a lot. So maybe if you lowered all the high pitch stuff a couple octaves or whatever, or made it come and go every other bar or whatever it might sound better. Or you could just make stuff however you want, ignoring me, which is the better choice. |
