Sorry big I think I may have killed your Westworld thread.
Maybe if I hadn't said anything there'd be lots of witty
comments and people appreciating the show and stuff

ahah

i should have said something too, right

seems it's getting to be a pretty great series. i hope they
really delve into the complexities, or just all the aspects
of AI en consciousness

the series is Ex Machina meets Game of Thrones

Ex Machina is great
also Neuromancer is a great book, though a pretty tough read

the quintessential scene from the first episode

I hope they don’t drag it out too long. Though it seems to
be moving at a reasonable pace.

The series is an amalgam of many things for sure. IT’s
like William Golding, Isaac Asimov and Michael Crichton all
had a TV baby together.

It also reminds me a bit of the game Rust in a way. A big
artificial themepark with the freedom to do anything. What
would people do? They’d obviously fuck and kill everything
(if you have ever been sodomised in Rust you will know what
I’m talking about it). Just because it's not "real" does
that give you licence to behave like an animal? "Freedom"
exposes a person's moral compass.

So many interesting themes to wrap your head around. Science
vs Nature, Morality and Freedom etc etc… These ideas
aren't particularly unique to Westworld but it does provide
a good platform on which to explore them and so many
more...

Yes, it’s a goody. And Sci-fi is cool.

(and new Humans out in a few days, along with Black Mirror
being out - TV is looking up).

I haven't seen Ex Machina, nor have I read Neuromancer. Both
look interesting. Might give them a whirl.

If you want a taste of Gibson, read the short story Johnny
Mnemonic before Neuromancer. (ignore the shitty Keanu movie
of the same name)

Ex Machina is fantastic. Highly recommended. Avoid spoilers.

Thank you, fleetmice. Will keep that in mind.

(There appears to be some floating about but the first one
already has some terrible typos so might just go for
'Burning Chrome' - which is available in the Kindle store)
