close to shore somehow threatening vs land-based defenses?

I have to say, Putin is really running the table. Crimea,
Syria, and now Brexit cuts the weak animal out of the herd
and the pack surrounds it. Too bad he couldn't manage to get
the easily manipulated pissbaby Trump elected. Trump would
have been to Russia as Duterte is to China.

i read the aircraft carrier has to be accompanied with a
massive ocean going tug cos it breaks down half the time. I
doubt the Russia really consider the UK that much

ampi, I watched the first speaker. Very interesting. How did
you stumble across an Estonian geopolitical conference?

What struck me was the first guy said that Russia was
bringing 19th century ideas to the 21st century, and how
this was an advantage for them. I interpret that as meaning,
Russia is using ancestral modes of cognition, e.g.,
tribalism and simplistic notions of self as good and other
as bad and unworthy.

His entire spiel was devoted to dispelling self-awareness
and self-criticism, an exhortation to naive belief in the
goodness of one's tribe. While this may indeed be a factor
in winning wars (and football games), is it really where we
want to go as a nation, an alliance of nations, a
species...?

I'll watch some more later. It's giving me a lot to think
about.

Every conservative misjudgment and misdeed is being piled
onto Hillary's shoulders as a crime before she takes office.
Incredible.

President Trump: "Sure, Vlad, you can have Estonia and
Lithuania." [whispers to aide] "what are estonia and
lithuania?"
