I understand why they wouldnt like radiohead very much, its an album i like quite a bit, i wasn't fussed on In Rainbows and kings of limbs was alright this is much better than those two i reckon |

Listened to a few tracks my brother played me and was really impressed. Seemed a little more sophisticated than anything from past albums. Really love the orchestral elements in those I have listened to, it's richer/more perfected than in other past songs. |

yeah lush strings on the numbers talented composer greenwood, i like tinker tailor song alot sort of reminds me of the tourist. yes very solid album, i would imagine they have recorded more stuff though being 5 years in and out of the studio, would like them to release another album next year like they did with Kid A/amnesiac, |

yeah its very good song, i think the lyrics make me cringe a bit when he says the people have the power, bit to hippy for my liking, but in the context of the album i dont notice it, usually he isnt very direct in his lyric writing and its more ambiguous |

yeah i think he is classically trained, he is one of these musicians who is actually really good going into a different discipline, its quite rare to be a remarkable guitarist and a classical composer, his films scores are really good |

i think the weakness is when they try to introduce electronic music into the mix, its not bad but not as good as it could be half the time, but i suppose thats because they were a traditional band for so long, this new album incorporates it better, little twinkly ambient synth sounds in the back of the mix which really works rather than white noise modular synth drunk snare sounds all the time |

I used to enjoy listening to Ms Gudmundsdottir's or Mr Yorke's screaming or moaning a lot. But then one day I just couldn't listen to their stuff anymore. And that's a shame, cause many Radiohead tracks after I stopped listening to them [after Amnesiac] still contain lots of great ideas - but sorry, Thom's voice or "forced original or strange" lyrics ruin the sonic experience for me totally. Fingers crossed for some Anniversary Hits Box Edition with instrumental versions of all their albums - when they get fat and old enough to release stuff like that. Btw how and why brain works the way it works and your life experiences can change that "music taste" or whatever we humans call it ? <3 Psychoacoustics. |

That was for "Ian". Listened 4-5 times now; I really like it. Delicate, subtle, melodic, and rather deep all the while. I felt like calling it "mature", but after a bit of thought I've decided the term is shit. I prefer it on speakers, though a good listen on the cans revealed quite a bit you miss listening full blast on the stereo. Lots of little things I keep discovering, like the fact the first word on the album is "stay", and the last: "leave". |

Yeah I can see what happened to you. It takes to being very close to the pathos-orientated side of your emotions to deal with his voice at times. Still, I'm happy that didn't happen to me, and I can still stand his voice, which I think on this album is rather fitting. Never liked the acoustic versions of True Love Waits for exactly the reasons you mention. |

For the musicians it might be a problem, but for the listener it can sometimes be a rewarding thing. Sometimes my ears enjoy the fact four or more souls had to compromise, had to come to a sort of collective ingredient. With one producer you might get something more honest, but listening to five people trying to make something work can be just as thrilling for the listener, and you get more personalities (literarily speaking). |

Check out the album Junun he did in collaboration with Shye Ben Tzur, and the Indian ensemble the Rajasthan Express. Produced by Nigel Godrich. Not the stuff I usually am into, but it's rather good. Also, have to say I'm weary of rock stars dabbling in "world music", but this seems rather honest. |

pathos-orientated side of your emotions - yes, good wording of what I meant, thanks but how about: I enjoy listening to James Blake again ? and after years I finally started enjoying Overgrown album and the Overgrown single [not to mention the awesome dark sky/sea video] ? still emotions, a lot of them in Blake's work - but different expression form ? or sounds more honest than e.g. Rdhd ? [of course I'm judging now which is honest and which is not haha] my thing with Radiohead is also how "commercially" big they got and how alternative/indie they always wanted to look like imo - as I gathered from their press. I mean bands like Sonic Youth before they signed to Geffen: when their attitude back then looked like "it's just music, art, we don't give a shit about $$"- at least they made it look true and/or I was young and naive and believed that. so Thom's involvement in politics, ecology and all that stuff smelled [?] to me like someone who got rich by selling his "alternative" style felt [?] guilty [?] and tried to look like someone very close to and on the level of his teen [?] student [?] listeners and maybe all this above I'm yapping about threw both Booth and James away too ? who knows, who knows ? |
