Creepy video. I like it. The Wicker Man is a film I've had
on the computer for years, I really want to see it.

I love the simplicity of the video, it kinds of bring us
back when things were simpler and good. And the the music is
also good, fantastic !

That's also what some prick from pitchfork thought. I'd love
to hear you and LOL Explain! I don't see that at all, wether
within the lyrics, or the clip.

Someone who worked on the clip also mentioned the refugee
crisis, but later admitted he had no idea what it was about
after Radiohead distanced themselves from the comment.

I know you're not being sarcastic.

That could be a part of a few of the only reasons why a
stressed out, and scared person could see this as a reason
this track could be a about the fucking "current refugee
crisis", you fucking muppet.

Talk about being a tool of the press, Dan, you fucking
idiot.

Imagine that said in a really slow, mocking tone.

I was actually joking for once. I mean, it's vague enough to
be about refugees, it's vague enough to be about anything.
It could be to do with Edward Snowdon or ISIS (seeing as
they do, you know, actually burn people they consider
heretics, unlike fucking Daily Mail readers).

thom yorke is a master of writing meaningless but portentous
sounding lyrics, nonspecific enough so that idiots who know
nothing about the world can feel thrilled and alarmed by
having their misconceptions and prejudices stimulated. I
think this is why Socrates wanted to have the poets ejected
from his ideal society.

offline RussellDust on 2016-05-07 16:21 [#02495385]

I enjoy Thom Yorke's lyrics, because I'm an idiot.

The other new track is rather sweet. I like the meaningless
lyrics too.

For me it's about mob mentality, surveillance. Pointing at
the voters, not just the elected. I like the fact it isn't
fucking Sartre.

Peeps you can be such an arrogant, dismive know-it-all!

shit so anyone can relate

i think singers write words, when they write, just because
they sound in a certain way singed from them

I think you're right, it is probably "to do" with those
things you mention. But then, I mean, we know we live in
troubled times, we don't need Yorke obliquely alluding to
"be careful what you say".

To be honest, on reflection, I wish he had done a big off
charity song for the jungle in Calais. I wish he'd called it
"The Jungle in Calais" and the lyrics went

All these people
Just want to come to the UK
I think they should be allowed in
Because, you know, otherwise they have to stay in France.

Yeah read about that somewhere, Reddit, I think.

What was the name of that journalist who posted a cynical
tweet that the masses took wrongly as she was boarding a
plane to a country in Africa? By the time the plane was
landing a mob was waiting for her, and her employers had
sacked her.

I think it was something about her not getting AIDS because
she was white.

I think she spent a fortune on trying to get Google not to
link to her, so we won't mention her name (or was that the
woman who had a picture of her flipping the bird at some US
veterans memorial, I don't know, it's in that Jon Ronson
book on this subject). Her error was to to make an edgy joke
that took a modicum of intelligence to appreciate, faced
with a job lot of people actively seeking something to be
offended by.

It's also probably about Anita Sarkeesian and Zoe
whatsername, who were being targeted by #gamergate on social
networks, they got threatened by people who knew where they
lived and sent them pictures of their homes and shit, hence
"we know where you live"

OK, I have a newfound appreciation for Thome Yorke now.

I WAS WRONG!!!!!!!

Daydreaming is about his split with the partner he spent 23
years with.

It is cryptic, but the creepy backward bit at the end is him
saying "half of my life".

Anyway, I'm sorry for being a grumpy guts! I get well
touchy.

Unless... "Burn the Witch".... is about... excessive

I bet he was a refugee in WATMM, banging on about "The Aphex
Twin" he'd found out about fairly late in the day. Probably
on Napster, looking if his own album was on there.

thanks for sharing. the song is a very nice surprise - both
the vocals and the backing track = not annoying or over the
top.

MAYBE I'll come back to listening to them after a 16 years
break. or I'll just wait for a super deluxe hits box future
release containing all Radiohead instrumentals, without the
whiny/moany/yawny Yorke's voice. Or I'll just play Blur's
Think Tank again instead.
