portable cd player/r2 sounds.

and that silver droid sounds, in the jawa transporter
..."gehmetuka"

whats impressive is that he managed to make all these sounds
prior to the advent of digital synthesizers, well most of em
anyway, im trying to think of any other sound effects from
anywhere that i really like

thats right.

even when you know what can be made on an arp 2600 it is
still hard to do what he did...and yet before he got on an
arp, he had no idea, but knew to keep searching, until he
found pure gold.

r2 could have sound naf. imagine star wars without Mr
Burtt. lol i am praising him like some sort of god....luka
luka luuu la.

he does rightly deserve all the credit, even as a very young
child the sounds really stood out to me, its a massive part
of making it a cohesive fantasy word, r2d2 could have
sounded like a smashed alarm clock and it just wouldnt have
been right, the sound effects are the best in any film
series for sure

cool sound. creepy too.

yeah imagine how big the budgie would have to be to get
those frequencies unless you gave it a mic and an effects
processor pedal for its beak.

imagine a buidgie that can control effects and drum loops n
stuff. : P

future sound of london 'ISDN' has alien samples btw.
awesome sound design album.

Very lucky it happened the way it did. but as there is 'no
such thing as luck'...it must have been thanks to Mr Lucas.

yeah back then he obviously had a good idea of the sounds he
wanted for his film, actually every good moment in the film
you can instantly recall with sound effects

i always assumed it was c3po but its a bit ambiguous, how
did they get it to sound like that, compressed to bugger,
high pass filter,

offline freqy on 2016-01-22 23:56 [#02491628]

offline Hyperflake from Wirral (United Kingdom) on 2016-01-23 00:01 [#02491632]
Points: 31015 Status: Regular

yeah i was trying to figure it out what it sounded like,
someone talking down a landline

"Plain old telephone service (POTS) is voice-grade telephone
service employing analog signal transmission over copper
loops.[1] POTS was the standard service offering from
telephone companies from 1876 until 1988

Restricted to a narrow frequency range of 300 to 3300 Hz"

piece ever hit those baby ewoks?" LoL : )

the shuttle sound at 50 secs is cool. and the way it fades
into the next scene.

the amount of space junk generated would surely put the ewok
space program back a few generations, they would find storm
trooper limbs orbiting their moon for many decades.
