Stop eating meat save the planet (cowspiracy)

I'm going through Cowspiracy in several parts and I'm in now
2/3.
I thin it's a great doc and I think it's pretty cool to call
out NGO's like Greenpeace like that.

About yoyoyoyo's post: I think it's great you're inspired.
Maybe it's hard to stop cold (veggie) Turkey like that, just
for a doc. You did give great good tips, though, so have
done some good research.
I've been a no meat veggie since 2000, but had other reasons
than environment, mostly that I didn't want to kill. I've
been considering less dairy products, so thanks for the tips
in tht regard too.

Thats great to hear big

I never had it hard to quit stuff. I guess i am not an
addict person. I have quited drinking and smoking in the
past cold turkey.

Sure thing, vegan is the future.

Brainwashed i wouldent call it that, its free will. I was
probebly leaning a tiny bit towards going vegan already. In
the summer, before i had watched cowspiracy i bought a belt
made of microfiber instead of leather because i dident want
to think about having a dead animal on me. Maybe this
documantary was the push i needed. If i got brainwashed with
this, i say great.

yoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyyo do you eat avocado?

flax seeds they contain omega 3 , table spoon in salad is
good or almost any meal.

Methylcobalamin b12 ( everyone should up their b12 not
just veg*ns) or eat more dirt like our ancestors did.

lots of fruit for breakfast and green leaves for din dins

I rarely eat avocado. Maybe i should try more often. I
bought milk free butter containing omega 3, also i read that
i should use rapeseed oil when frying stuff because it
contains omega 3. Havent tried much seeds or beans. I have
never made a sallad in my life i think. Have bought some
ready made sallads in the past, with meat then.

avocado is more expensive but very healthy and well
digested.

salads are just mixes of veggies in a bowl really. usually
uncooked but you can add steamed stuff. steaming is the best
way to cook foods that need cooking.

if you want that full feeling...avocado with veggies or if
you eat bread is great.

by its self it is a bit boring tho , but still 10000 times
better than eating margarine raw. hahaha : P

make sure you avocado is soft....some shops sell them
hard..they do soften up ....but the best is soft and still
green not gone black inside.

peace.

Vegan stuff i bought
To replace butter and margarine: milkfree butter with omega
3. Taste the same as butter with milk. I have also tried
milk free cheese made from coconut milk, dident taste
exactly the same as cheese with cow milk, but i am sure some
others do, the one i tried still tasted good.

just a pack of butter yo

To replace milk : oat drink and soya drink. Both taste good
the soya one tasted more sugary.

oat drink

soy drink

To replace cream

oat cream

To replace minced meat: soya minch. Taste good. I probebly
cant taste no differens.
soy minch

To replace schnitzel: soya schnitzel. Nice with potatos
soya schnitzel

To replace meat, fish and maybe other stuff: tofu. Tasted
really good with some marinade. Ate it with macaroni and
some fried vegetables.
tofu 1
tofu 2

To replace sausage: soya sausage. Havent tried this yet.
soya suasage

Your right, i dont need to change my menu. I can have this
stuff with spaghetti, rice and potatos and with some simple
sauce like tomato sauce or white sauce with some vegetables
and sometimes muchrooms.

you mean this?
Looks similar to raisin. Maybe i try someday.

Hyperflake : i wonder if that turd burger was for real or
not.

Both something for the future maybe. Humans can sure invent
stuff. Anyway i am happy with my soy stuff.

If you mean antibiotics they have a fact on that too.

80% of antibiotic sold in the US are for livestock.
New FDA Numbers Reveal Food Animals Consume Lion’s Shar...

Some text copied from that link

Antibiotics, one of the world’s greatest medical
discoveries, are slowly losing their effectiveness in
fighting bacterial infections and the massive use of the
drugs in food animals may be the biggest culprit. The
growing threat of antibiotic resistance is largely due to
the misuse and overuse of antibiotics in both people and
animals, which leads to an increase in “super-bacteria”.
However, people use a much smaller portion of antibiotics
sold in this country compared to the amount set aside for
food animals. In fact, according to new data just released
by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), of the
antibiotics sold in 2009 for both people and food animals
almost 80% were reserved for livestock and poultry. A huge
portion of those antibiotics were never intended to fight
bacterial infections, rather producers most likely
administered them in continuous low-dosages through feed or
water to increase the speed at which their animals grew. And
that has many public health experts and scientists troubled.

Hi yoyo,

so some time has gone, have you been able to maintain your
vegan diet?

Is it more or less expensive than your previous diet?

Also a question for you

What if you didn't buy mass produced fish, instead get it
from regular fishermen who don't use massive nets. I can
easily buy (amazing) fish to eat that was caught by
fisherman on their little boats. If you had this choice to
buy fish from small time fisherman who are not even remotely
contributing to any kind of negative impact on the
environment, would you take it or not and what motivates you
to make that decision?

Hi Portnoy.
Im doing fine with vegan diet, i cant go back now. Actually
i have reduced the cost of food by half or more monthly. I
have this internet bank app where i can see how much i spend
every month. I used to eat mostly frozen ready made food
that i heated in the microwave oven. Those get quite
expensive in the long run. So now i have to do some cooking
on my own. So i can say i have to sacrifice some time with
that more then before. But if i was cooking my own food with
meat it would have been even more cheaper then now.

frozen food like this

About the fish, that sounds fine i guess. I mean if you
could hunt down a animial on your own and eat it i would not
have a problem with that. Animals do it, not that mass
produced shit. One thing i think of is maybe they pollute
the water with petrol engines on the boat. If they dont row.
Well im not perfect i drive a car. I wish they all got
electrical quite soon. Me personally wont eat animal food
again, because i dont need to do that to survive. Everyone
just want to stay alive so i let them.

I watched this tv program on swedish tv where they tried
some vegan burgers to find out who had the best ones. They
judged on best look, best taste and most healthy
ingredients. They tried 3 different burgers one from
macdonalds and one from max and one from sibylla (maybe this
ones only in sweden) anyway, macdonalds won and was a clear
winner it had the best taste and best look and was most
healthy acording to a calorie expert.

I mention this because i think you said in this thread you
like eating at macdonalds. Would this be something youd be
willing to try ? and maybe report back about what you think
of the taste?
If i was hungry and had to eat at macdonalds i would
definitely have it. Also there is vegetarian pizza if i
would ever crave for pizza. So i could also enjoy fast food
if i wanted.
The macdonald burger is called mcbean and they have also
veggie mcwrap as an alternative.

mcbean and veggie mcwrap

Thanks for the response, yoyoyoyoyo.

I'm glad to hear it's going well for you. I imagine that
cutting out ready meals and preparing food for yourself can
improve your psychological outlook. I often eat ready meals
for lunch, it's fast and convenient. But bad yes, it's
expensive and they just don't taste the same. Rarely do I
finish a meal and go "mmm that was amazing".

I'm also looking to change my diet for the better, since I'm
getting older and my body simply can't take the shit I'm
feeding it anymore (not to mention my ever expanding belly).
Whether or not this change will exclude meat, I'm not
entirely sure.

I wouldn't say I like McDonalds per se, just that I eat it
on occasion. Usually I regret it afterwards because it makes
my stomach feel like shit - strangely, I'm a fan of the
taste - even though it is incredibly artificial. My feelings
about Mcdonalds are conflicting. I'd be more than happy to
do a blind test with burgers (I have actually tried veggie
burgers on several occasions and they were quite tasty). Our
Mcds don't serve veggie stuff yet though afaik. Sometimes I
have meatless meals (salads with nuts and cheese - so not
completely vegan).

As for my fishermen, I'm sure they do leave a footprint of
some kind with their boats. There are peeps who catch fish
with their big ass poles right from the beach. I suppose if
my conscience gets the better of me, I can just get fish
from them.
