Well that's something I'd sort of like to know too...I've narrowed it down to two possibilities, neither of which I like that much, so I've never felt the urge to press the matter...until now I've always preferred knowing but not knowing why...now however, I'm starting to think I'd like to know...it's getting on for 20 years later, after all... |

Private tape...so, erm, yeah, either Squarepusher knows me (and we DON'T know he's Squarepusher), or he lifted the sample from a tape sent in to Warp by someone who knows me...I've been trying to apply Occam's Razor to this for a while, but I'm not sure what solution it would suggest... :-/ |

Did he alter the sample or is that how you effected it? |

I was sampled by a musician mate of mine, so either he's under the deepest possible cover imaginable, and IS SP, with TJ being a front, or, EVEN more depressingly, he sent in some stuff with that sample on to Warp and SP / TJ (always assuming that's the same entity!) somehow heard it and lifted it, which I find about as implausible... As you can tell, my voice has been speeded up somewhat (I don't sound like that, honest!), and I was giving praise for a choon he'd just done: the slight stutter you can hear is me rapidly rethinking my reference (and how I know it's me), as I was gonna praise it a bit more by saying "sounds like Aphex" or sumink similar, but realised I couldn't go quite that far and dialled it down a notch... I COULD ask Warp I s'pose, and I guess that's the only way to know for sure...of course Occam's Razor would probably suggest the latter of these two options is correct, and I wouldn't confirm that unless I asked Warp, but, hmmm, ah I dunno, maybe I still don't wanna know...of course my mate might not like it if the second option's true either... :-/ |

i think you actually deserve some []pusher t-shirts and other special treats.. and me too. oh wait i got a pineapple ; ) when did you find this out anyway? i think your friend needs to be questioned. is he an on-line buddy ? if so, maybe he is TJ as you say, or knows TJ and/or TJ Hooker... which maybe not be relevant. well its exciting to be on his cd anyway thats mental. You've been played live around the world and in millions of bedrooms and studios n cars and planes and trains and radio waves, your radio signals are out in space along with TJ and captain kirk too, of course....blimmie. : O your an alien signal out there somewhere on an awesome track, with that funny voice. haha |

Well I might ask my mate, but then if it turns out he knows nowt about it (more than likely) then I'd be essentially revealing that he sent a tape into Warp, they didn't like it, and one of their star turns happened to lift a sample off it...you can see my dilemma here... |
