i read the 1st blog post of the "count down" 2 this book and it was basicly just describing what the track sounded like plus some elusive style AND IT SOUNDS COOL BACKWARDS TO
is the actual book better than that

That's hilarious. I read Ocean of Sound by David Toop and that was a tolerable read, maybe I will try this

The book is way better than that. It offers an interesting look behind the scenes of the record industry and the recording artist's relation to it at the time of, prior to, as well as after, the release of the record in question. The book turns a bit philosophical when dealing with how the record was received critically at the time and how it has been re-evaluated ever since, coming into its legacy. There's an interesting discussion about beatlessness and ambient music where the author compares Eno's concept of "discrete music" with rave culture's concept of chill-out and thus offers a rather fresh and interesting perspective on SAWII, for me anyway. Of course, I was there when this record was first released so I recognise the time and the zeitgeist that is described but I'm impressed by the number and richness of the details I didn't know that keeps surfacing throughout this book. That anyone can write a 150 pages about a two and a half hours long ambient album without boring me to death is impressive in its own right.
