Only just realised they released an EP in May. What do you
think of XTEP? Worth a listen?

ha no idea why it came out like that...

I read somewhere that Mike said Chewed Corners has an
Orbital influence - can you hear it? Damn I wanna get this
album yo

I'm pretty excited as I have been anticipating this release
since he had these tracks up on his soundcloud. Very glad
to see "Houzz 10", "Mountain Island Boner", and "Weakling
Paradinas" made their way on to the album.

There's probably lots of unintentional influences abound on
the album. Remember Mike got a hold of an 808/909 in the
recent years, when before his go to drum machine was an
Alesis (when he wasn't sampling breaks).

Mountain Island Boner (what a name) for instance has a VERY
strong Global Communication vibe going on, which is a good
thing!

Definitely going to be purchasing this as I have always
wanted Mike to lay down some more traditional Techno/House
tracks as his knack for melody was always top notch.

What are your favorite global communication tracks? I
really like the arcadian remix on artificial intelligence 2,
but couldn't really get into the other stuff I checked
out...

Xtep is a winner. Been listening to it for 2 weeks. Chewed I
hae no got. Last track Weakling Paradinas must been a "Rich"
reference. Nope?

They've done a lot of good tracks and I am particularly fond
of their remixes as they seem to transform the track into
their own much like Plaid.

Some Goodies:
1
2 (at about 37:40)
3
4 (technically Mark Pritchard on his own, but
it's the "GC sound" and hard to not lump some Reload/Link
into it.)
5
6
7

Surprised Blauwasser didn't make it on Chewed Corners.

whoa this shit is great. got it all now. I see the oldskool
techno and house influences. Most of it's so happy too,
totally unlike his last album and also an interesting
complement to the gloomy recent BOC yo

Taikon sounds a lot like modern Plaid?

Thanks! I've heard 76:14 before and it never really stuck
with me, but those biosphere and slowdive remixes are really
great!

It's true that I will happily buy anything that says
"electronic music" and "made in 1993". It's also true that
my presence on this site now is mostly to give somewhat
personality-free thank-yous to people sharing music I like.
I discovered a wealth of music here (didn't even know wagon
christ, ceephax, and BoC before coming), and would like to
voice my appreciation...

Don't worry, we like you since way back ;)

On topic: Chewed Corners I only listened to the stream on
hypem.com several times now, and it's really good.

While having a vast amount of influences/references it
achieves it's own sound at the same time which is what I
really like about it.

Thanks to you, I checked out 76:14 again; I adore both 14:31
and 4:14 (coincidentally the second and second-to-last
tracks). 14:31 manages to give me some of that glorious
"link - arcadian (global communication remix) vibe". thanks
again!

He is making much more upbeat stuff nowadays, I'll almost
certainly get the new rediffusion e.p I really enjoyed Xtep,
hope he keeps making regular releases from now on.

I am up by Sturgeon Lake atm and there's a bay called
Mountain Island Bay. Maybe Mike P came up here fishing and
got a hard on?

drill rods: "Aaah, yes... Mountain Island Bay. 7 AM.
Birds chirping, crisp breeze, brilliant sunshine. The green
of nature, the blue of nature-- one of Gaia's beautiful
masterpieces. Knowing that Mike Paradinas had an erection
here once makes it that much better. Thank you, Life."

Oh yeah:

this release is great; I especially like weakling paradinas (dat
buildup). reminds me of some good ol' tango n' vectif
(tango invective?).

offline Hyperflake from Wirral (United Kingdom) on 2014-07-21 07:46 [#02473940]

Another Version

I like this version quite a bit

I'm so thoroughly infatuated with the buildup of the
original, in particular the glorious placement of the final
melody (I'm talking 6:04 in the original) that I just can't
really appreciate the other version on a purely subjective
level. oh well.

Also, I somehow haven't checked out somerset avenue tracks, which is
odd given my love of tango n' vectif. Anway, worth
mentioning that release, as I haven't seen it here...

Some really enjoyable tracks on that, I don't know how long
he was making music on his Atari St for but i really like
the simplicity/ naive sound of those sort of tracks.

Your fourth track, a remix of "slowdive - in mind",
also appears in some random 100 idm track playlist which recently got a thread here as well
as attention around other internet corners.

I keep coming back to this comment by you, revpersona!
Thanks for providing these links.. I love that early global
communication sound and it's hard to dig up...

(Side note. I was casually listening to the playlist from
the "top 100" list, and was blown away by this track! I
went to the page and was surprised to see I'd already liked
the video... but once I saw "reload", I realized it must
have been from this thread!)

Also, this means global communication managed to sneak its
way into this "top 100" list multiple times =)

Rediffusion sounds amazing. I've only heard the samples on
the Planet Mu site, but it's the type of release that I'd
buy for the opener alone.

great
