in a review it refers to that vocal part as "apparently taken from a Cocteau Twins recording sampled in a garage."
is this true? Has anyone else heard this? The review is only by a customer on Amazon.com, but I'm just wondering if it's true...

The bit about it sounding like a Cocteau Twins vocal was reviewer input--the reviewer means to say that the vocals are indistinct (typical Cocteau Twins style) and they sound as though they were recorded in a garage (as many Cocteau Twins' vocals sound). The vocals, though, aren't from one of their songs.

I'd like to know where any of the IDM artists get their vocal samples from, half of them don't sound like they could come from old records.

That vocal is a decent likeness of Liz Fraser, but that's not her singing for sure.

You know...while that voice COULD be Liz Frasier's, it could just as well be the Kirsty Hawkshaw lady too...I am not sure though.
Sorry, I am no help on this...but interesting premise.

He... couldn't... possibly.... have... recorded... one of... his .... friends... humming like... that... coud he? It'd be... impossible... especially in the light of the fact that the next track on the album... Tha.... contains a recording of his mates talking... it'd be TOO MAD to think he'd recorded... someone... singing. Talking's one thing. Singing, or it least la la la ling, is quite another.
If you listen closely, the voice has a Cornish lilt, so it could be Dicky sped up.

Sounds like there are 3 vocal sounds going THe m,elody, a constant breathy sound and a pulsing drone. There are also those little bells. Wonderful song.
