thats where the term "carry trade" came from. seriously i
have been reading this book on the history of finance and
traders are seriously evil people. this stuff is abhorrent.

Can you explain? Like, if I own 500,000 shares of SLAV and
they issue a dividend do I get a BJ or something? Didn't
Jefferson have huge holdings in SLAV?

i thought by dividends you meant buying a woman who was with
child. this was a common way for slave traders to make
profits in the 1700s to 1800s. they would secretly find out
someone's slave was pregnant and buy her before he would
notice so he'd get two for one.

the term of art for this was a "carry trade" since the woman
was carrying. it's still used by foreign exchange traders
who rape global economies to this day.

I see, but that sounds more like a stock split as we know
them today, in fact that scenario could be considered a 1:2
split.

Did they offer futures on SLAV? I can imagine if SLAV was
suspected of raping a white woman the price might go into
contango...

i think you are misunderstanding me. the NYMEX is a
commodities exchange, think Frozen Concentrated Orange Juice
and the crop report from Trading Places. centuries ago guys
were there trading contracts on bulk quantities of slaves
much like you'd trade feeder cattle or pork bellies today.
they didn't care about the individual people involved, they
were treated as chattel, a commodity like any other animal.
disgusting.

i am going to liquidate all my pork belly holdings today and
won't be buying any more (or any bacon products) until the
NYMEX makes reparations.

OK, I think I got it. Where were the bulk of slaves held
until delivery?
