"Fatter than you are". Ha, ha. Very tactful.

Miles Davis 'Kind of Blue'. Predictable but so fuckin what.

I can really recommend Amon Tobin. It's fast, and dirty. At
times slow and cool. Serve chilled.

yeah, amon's slo stuff is nice, but, naturally I prefer his
fast'n'furious stuff. Ninja Tune is re-realising his debut
(as Kujo) and if you guys don't have it, I strongly suggest
you to get it.

Aqua Bassino's 'Bits n' Bobs' album on F-Comm is class. Some
jazzy deep house and some plain old jazzy downtempo.

yeah, britney's become a fetish which says something about
the power of the media... I prefer shakira anyway, and that
JL Hewitt is not half bad either. I kinda didn't like her in
"I knoe what you did last summer (but I dare not speak)",
there was this sexy blonde that got slaughtered halfway
through and i couldn't get over it...

she's colombian actually (or venezuelan)and Markes (not
Marx, mind you, but the famous nobel-prized Gabriel Garcia
Markes) waxed lyrical about her being very special and so
different from other teenage pop stars and having this
angellike innocence and so on... That old fart lost his

Men are pathetic. The sight of a beautiful woman can reduce
us to complete idiots.

I don't remember who said this but I think it was Valerie
Solanas:

'A man would crawl through pool a of vomit if he knew there
was pussy at the end of it'. Or thereabouts.

yeah, it all comes with the job. But I prefer her to
Britney, and Christina Aguilera is the best of all. Although
I must admit that the newer Britney's stuff improves, it's
more R'n'B and more listenable for that

Christina Aguilera is bloody awful. Slave 4 U is ok. I think
the Neptunes produced it. They just produced N Sync.

yeah, all those Timbaland ripoffs and wanabes. But anyway,
I'd swim through a pool of vomit if i knew there is a vagine
out there waiting for me. But there newer is and that's our
(men's) problem: we are constantly being baited, but never
satisfied

Are women so sex-obsessed?

Desire is weakness.

desire is weakness: my lad, you are beginning to sound
positively buddist (or is it buddhist?), but you are right:
no desire, no power over our will. Women? Some may be, but
generally, no, otherwise there would be a bunch of websites
with porn aimed at women, and we all knoe there isn't

What makes us this way? Its not biology so what?

I don't expect you to have the answers by the way.

offline Meho Krljic from Beograd (Yugoslavia) on 2002-04-18 13:50 [#00181897]
Points: 6617 Status: Addict | Followup to jonesy: #00181886

I'd say it is biology, accompanied with capital's natural
instinct for exploiting everything it can...

offline jonesy from Lisboa (Portugal) on 2002-04-18 13:56 [#00181914]
Points: 6650 Status: Lurker

I stay well away from biological explanations of human
behaviour for obvious reasons. Some people argue that men
are driven to rape, pornography and the sexual double
standard can be excused because of biological differences
between men and women. However, its not enough for me to
explain men's obsession with sex and sexual imagery through
social explanations alone. I mean, there's a difference
between embracing female exploitation and trying to control
your desires but the desires are always present aren't
they?

offline Meho Krljic from Beograd (Yugoslavia) on 2002-04-18 14:00 [#00181927]
Points: 6617 Status: Addict | Followup to jonesy: #00181914

yeah, I too think it's lame to try and explain antisocial
behaviour with biological excuses. But there our instincts
are and we are stuck with them. Some people rape, some surf
for porn, some merely cheat on their partners and some have
no problems because they can control their urge. But anyway,
IMO, rape has more to do with property issues than with
sex...

offline jonesy from Lisboa (Portugal) on 2002-04-18 14:10 [#00181946]
Points: 6650 Status: Lurker

Yeah you're right. I guess the struggle to control our urges
is a battle some find easier than others but we all have to
do it.

Rape - yeah I shouldn't have thrown that in. Its not about
desire and sex.

yeah, glad to see we agree somewhere. So, on the subject of
porn, I hate when it's just a part of the industry with all
the crap it comes along (not only in its material area, also
in the spirit and aesthetics) but have no moral problems
with it.

I don't have a problem with erotic ( I hate that word),
sexual then, imagery etc. Its when its produced in an
exploitative relationship. The depiction of women is also
really bad.

But don't you think those bondage pics you like are a bit
dodgy? (Always the moral judge me!)

no, I have no probs when this thing is done on a strong,
disturbing, even level and have no probs with exploitation
etc. what bugs me is the cheap and trivial imagery, bad
acting or bad natural behaviour and the lack of (for want of
a better term) erotic impulse in it. Just banging does not
do it for me, it has to have something deep and moving about
it. Does this make any sense to you?

i don't. Most of them do it with consent and quite a lot of
them like it. And it's just a game. Until you hurt somebody
without their consent, of course. But the images themselves,
they don't disturb me. I'm probably heartless asshole.
