Managed to pick up a mint copy of that TRICKY DISCO CD
single today for 50p at a car boot sale...I generally hate
getting dragged around them but this time i thought I'd
actually spend sometime having a look and the first thing I
found was this....I had the Cassingle when it first came out
(1990).. but CD is much better...

Anyone else had any lucky finds recently?..

yeah, ebay is suprisingly cool when it comes to bargains, I
always expected things to go for stupid money and altho a
lot of stuff does seem overpriced, if you are patient and
know what you want, you can pick up things at a real decent
price....

I've bought quite a few things over the last few months that
I expected to pay a lot more for than I did...

the trick to ebay is to log onto at around midnight to one
am.
that's when most people post their auctions.
you can get stuff for really cheap instantly if they fucked
up and put a cheap buy it now price.
thats how i got the cylob single for two bucks.

no problem...will do so sometime this week...

it's got 3 tracks on there...

1. Tricky Disco
2. Tricky Disco (Saxy Mix)
3. Tricky Disco (Inner Space Mix)

I can remember it getting pretty close to the Top 10 over
here...those were strange days when Warp filled the charts
with Bleeps & Beeps (& the odd Clonk)...;)..

WAP7... quite an early WARP release...

i won the same item (tricky disco) at ebay for 2 euros.
listening to tricky disco (gto etc.) makes me sad because
Lee Newman died a few years ago. she had cancer... what a
loss for the electronic music scene! *sniff*

yeah, cool..I remember that Rave...The big thing at the
Essex Showground, yeah?...I was there today at a Car Boot
show and was thinking about that all-nighter (was that 92 or
93??...sometime around then I guess...)...

Too many police there for my liking if I recall correctly
which kinda put me off outdoor big raves....used to prefer
raving over Colchester (TooToos I think..) or over Clacton
Pier or FunnySkins at Southend Football Club...Did you ever
go to any of them?...

I wouldn't mind knowing how rare that BassCadet EP is
also.... I got it when it first came out and didn't like it
that much (AE have def grown on me over the years...didn't
rate em much with the first 2 albums tho...)...

Technohead?! They were fucking awful if I remember
correctly.

Picked up a Rephlex 12" from '97 by Tim someone. It has no
tracklisting or cover, so anyone who's got it I'd appreciate
a tracklist/info.

Yeah, I really wondered what was going on with that "I wanna
be a hippy" song...not the best thing to have as your last
release really but I guess they planned it as a little fun
gabba song that somehow crossed over....

The rephlex one sounds like "Like a TIM"...that's the only
tim on rephlex I can thing of...

check the rephlex disco at http://www.kompaktkiste.de/rephlex.htm ....

Who were Technohead? I much prefered the Smurfs 'I Wanna
Little Puppy'.

Cheers, it is Like A Tim.

Technohead were Lee Newman and Michael Wells... also known
as GTO, John & Julie, Tricky Disco & loads others...

There's a good GTO page at http://www.bassquake.co.uk/gto.htm... if you wanna
know anymore...

from that site "All said and done, together the duo released
(to my count) 10 albums and 47 singles/E.P.s, with Michael
releasing a further 3 albums, and 9 singles since Lee's
death. "....

ah i used to go to "mindwarp" in colchester back then - the
big rave at the essex showground was when i first got stoned
. i once saw power pill on cd for a pound at the boot fair
there and didnt end up getting it-argh! foolish me
clacton was where dj force played if i remeber right .
there were gonna be more raves at great leighs but the
wankers who did the first one put a clause in that no-one
else could hold one for 10 years in the small print - thats
the rumour i heard

Haha yeah my AUNT (out of all people!!!) used to be a
massive Warp fan around the time LFO got uber-big. She just
gave me the Tricky Disco 12", two LFO 12"s (one of them
being that fake Brainstorm one) and some other stuff
includin a worn down amateur dub white label thing that's
bloody hilarious to listen to.

I've been on a vinyl buying crusade for the last few weeks
and despite spending over £300 on records, i've managed to
get some real bargains as well as some massive tunes, which
i've always wanted to buy. I always keep my hand (or ear) on
the pulse looking for a bar gin.

Buying a still-sealed copy of this from a very
nice man down south for £10. The fact it existed in this
condition (not the mention the price) is a miracle.

On the warp tip, I recently found a record by a Kid unknown
for 99p in oxfam. It is in very good condition if I remember
rightly. I really don't anything about it. It isn't bad but
it isn't a classic.
