They're just jealous of the Scots and Irish. Everyone in North America is mad about how Celtic they are or can claim to be, and it always basically means Scottish/Irish. I knew a Welsh guy over here and it used to really annoy him. I lolled hard. Also what's really funny is the number of people who think it's cool to point out their "Scots-Irish" roots. They must be thinking "ooh I'm scottish AND irish, I'm doubly cool!", whereas actually they are claiming shared heritage with the people who did all the bombing in Belfast and shit. |

Both my maternal grandfather and my paternal great-grandfather were from Ireland but I'd feel a right cunt laying any claim to Irish-ness based on that and having visited there once. I like Samuel Beckett, James Joyce and drinking heavily, but beyond that I couldn't say. |
