The Winner: Autechre By TKO

In the past year or so we've seen these electronic
heavyweights come forward with their latest offerings.
After having purchased:

Aphex Twin: Drukqs
Autechre: Confield
Boards of Canada: Geogaddi
Squarepusher: Go Plastic

I contend that Autechre are the only ones to live up to
expectation.

Drukqs - Brilliant at times although inconsistent -- sucks
at times too. His worst offering yet.

Geogaddi - Rehash of their first album. Absolutely NO
musical progression. It has more of a pop sensibility.
Does nothing for me.

Go Plastic - A valiant effort from Mr. Pusher but altogether
lacking inspiration. I'm still attempting to wrap my head
around this one he gets second place.

Confield - An incredible piece of work which like the rest
of their recent releases seems to just get better and better
with time.

Please note: No one else has my brain so your opinions will
likely differ.

I haven't heard Confield of Go Plastic, but Geogaddi is
amazing imo...

Drukqs is alright... not close to being his best however...

Confield is sheer genius. i agree it comes out on top.

yeah, drukqs is mad over rated. all these people are coming
up to me at school when i wear my aphex twin t-shirt, and
they're like "do you have drukqs?! isn't it awesome?!" i'm
thinking of re doing the shirt with "p.s. drukqs is over
rated" on the back.

Confield and Geogaddi both met my expectations. Though if
BoC's next release is mroe of the same I will be disapointed
to say the least.

yeah, there's some aphex twin fans, i'm guessing most of
them like rdj so they can name drop and be considered cool..
but i'm the only one who knows boards of canada, which is
really depressing. i recomend them to everyone, but no one
will listen. i even made a boards of canada shirt to try to
get people to listen to them. everyone's like, "wait, canada
makes surf boards?" the aphex twin shirt i made seems to get
much more attention.

maybe it's me, but BoC seems to change a little with almost
every release. the first i heard from them was the in a
beautiful place... single, which is fairly different from
everything else they've done, in my opinion. but you can
note differences in each release, for the most part.

yes, I agree... A Beautiful Place is definately different
from Music has the Right, and Geogaddi is very different
from both of them as well... it's very apparent to me...

for once i'm not completely talking out of my ass! or as
white rapper bubba sparxxx would say :"spittin' that booty
chatter" haha, i love that phrase. :gives my self a hi-five:

Funkmaster... you gotta listen to some more stuff@! you are
missing out...

actually i disagree... BoC is the least diverse of the big
4... sure there is some growth, but BoC has the most limited
palette and mood...

yeah, autechre are the only ones that never stopped evolving
after each release. it's not an easy thing to do, that's
why they are on top of evryone in the electronica scene.

i cant decide which one i favor more. there is sheer
brilliance in both albums(confield, drukqs)

it's 54 Cymru Beats vs. Lentic Catechresis for me

Well I'll be!
Say, are any of Gescom's cds readily available or were they
all limited runs?
I heard a few songs by them('Puzl', 'Go Sumo', and 'Go
Sheep')that I really liked.

i wish there was more gescom :(

in fact some of the greatest tracks i've ever heard come
from gescom, all types

ive got a feeling that theyll rerelease all the gescom
material on some kind of compilation in the future. when ae
were asked a question about rereleasing gescom material on
the warp q & a, they answered something like "noted". that
would be incredible indeed.
